I used to struggle so much with the Gospels and the concept of the Pharisees and Jewish leaders. How could they literally see the Son of God, hear His words, see miracles and still hate Him...until I lived enough life.
People are willing to live with a tremendous amount of comfortable lies and hypocrisy to protect their comfortable way of life. Its one of the biggest flaws of humanity. They will even convince themselves that the lies are truth in the end and violently defend them if need be.
