From just over a year ago? Ouch.
Yeah not a good look when your newly minted VP selection was spouting left wing slogans just a year ago.

This is well said.
I think Vance is WYSIWYG. He, like many conservatives, has struggled with Trump as the face of the GOP.
I mean, I am a conservative with a libertarian streak and didn't vote for Trump in 2016 because I thought he was a charlatan, an opportunist, riding the hatred of Hillary into a Republican ticket when he had seemed like a Democrat sympathizer most of his life.
Then I watched him govern. Outside of his unfiltered and at many times vulgar rhetoric on Twitter, he was an absolutely great president. He actually did what he said he'd do. He was even great at foreign policy. So I gladly voted for him in 2020. If someone had taken away his Twitter access early on in his term, he would have won 2020 easily.
He is truly an outsider, which is obvious by the constant unrivaled hatred from not.only Democrats but also a segment of Republicans.
So, I get Vance's struggles to get a read on Trump. And I agree with OP that Vance is a populist and a Republican one at that. We are long overdue to flip the working class full on to voting conservative. Maybe we're on the cusp of it.

Add that he is the only person in Washington talking about the social security and Medicare crisis, which will destroy this country in the next 10-20 years and he is definitely who we need to have a bigger voice.
It helps that he’s on the south side of 40.

I always voted Republican. After McCain and Romney showed their true colors under Trump…..frick the Republican Party establishment. I’ll never give money to them again and they do not get my vote unless they earn it. I’ll give money to Trump but not the McConnell wing any more.

I don't think people changing their mind about Trump from 2015 to today is a big deal at all.
Spewing leftist rainbow slogans just a year ago is far more concerning.

Jesus Christ did you even look?
He was making fun of liberals always having those slogans in their bio

The following is from VOX
Enacting Trump’s dark ambitions
There is little doubt that Vance will continue in this role if elected vice president. He would enable all of Trump’s worst instincts, and put a brake on none — deploying his considerable intellectual and intrapersonal gifts toward bending the government to Trump’s will.

It's amazing that you suddenly see it now, just out of the blue. Just pure happenstance that you came to this realization just a couple of hours after he was tapped for veep.
When he was included in the lists about a month ago, I happened on to his comments about Trump and I found them so out there that my mind totally slammed shut. They sounded so left wing idiotic.
After he was selected, I watched several videos and it was clear to me that he was the very definition of a Populist and a Nationalist.
There is still the possibility of course that he is s phoney and that his early criticism of Trump was the real JD Vance, a leftist. But I think he is the sort that reacted negatively, at a visceral level, to Trump's bombastic and obnoxious style.
Regardless, the post is more about Trump, and what makes him uniquely independent like a true leader.

Come now... One can definitely be critical of Trump and not be a leftist.

You truly are, a boy. You wouldn't know a sheople if it bit you in the arse - no more than you would understand politics in this country since suffrage.
The left has been fueled by bitches, not boomers ..... boy.

Don’t know that I trust this Vance guy, but the fact he’s against Ukraine war and the neocons hate him helps his case a little with me.
But, I don’t trust anyone, so there’s that.
