I live out the sticks, not a neighborhood, and we sort of do this already. Its mix between coordinated gardens and a system of bartering. But beyond gardens we also have chickens for eggs and slaughter, honey bees and goats on our property. We trade that with the the other folks in the area for things like cows milk, cheese, pork products etc. Also a lot of the farmers in the area have stands in front of their property that operate on the honor system for things they have grown or raised. One farm in particular would post to social media what was available and sure enough it took one day for her to be reported because it was illegal for her to make pickles that she in turn sold from her home.

LOL, everyone knows what this is about.

"In this time of national crisis, citizen, thank you for your contribution of your produce. A USDA truck will be by to collect it for redistribution".

Seems like they're trying to set up a follow up decision to this:

Wickard vs. Filburn

But seriously, I wonder if suburban gardening is getting more and more popular and the USDA is trying to get their grubby hands on it for control? You know Big Ag hates suburban gardening. If neighborhoods coordinated gardening activates they potentially could be 100% free of Big Ag and the grocery store produce section.

That would be my guess as well although I think it also applies to dense rural areas. Community gardens have gained in popularity. From my limited experience, they have shot up the "Desires" list in many urban Parks and Recreation polls. Also, they have been popular projects with schools and NGOs.

If I read the release correctly, a private home garden would not be able to be registered. It would just be the ones that involve collaboration.

It's a scheme to force you to give your produce to people that didn't produce their own in the name of equity.

No it is not a scheme to force you to produce for others. It is a scheme to shut your garden down.

What? You didn't register? That is a 1000 dollar fine.

What? We have video of you applying nitrogen fertilizer. 2000 dollar fine and restitution for destroying the planet.

What? you shared you produce? Income tax evasion!

What? You shared it freely. I don't believe you Income tax evasion.

The goal is for THEM to produce the GMO food and insects for you. NOT for you to do it yourself.

No thanks! My garden is like my paycheck. It is for the benefit of my family. The so called "community" can do the work and grow their own. Feds need to stay out of it.

So they can show up and confiscate your crops to redistribute to more deserving Democrats who don’t know how to raise a garden.

They need to know where to apply the aerial herbicide during depopulation.
