US Military question(s): Do all branches train snipers?

(I don’t even know if I’m using correct terminology, apologies if I’m way off)
If so, which branch is typically the most elite in terms of training?
In other words, is one branch more well known for the quality of their snipers than the others?
Is the job more about marksmanship or stealth ability?
Or something else?
I have a young teenage nephew who’s interested in marksmanship and the military (no, he’s not a creepy, gun-fixated, cat killer), and I wonder how competitive the process is, in terms of qualifying.
Does a person typically enter the military, knowing sniper school is his goal, or are his skills simply identified during training?
Thanks for entertaining my litany of questions.

The best snipers in the Galaxy are trained in the Space Force. Fact.

I was a military recruiter, the most prestigious branch is the Marine Corps. Longest recruit training, admired and feared all over the globe.
Your nephew should look into the Marines or Army infantry. Army can give him a guaranteed job, whereas the Marines he'd be signing a contract for infantry field and would get specific job at school of infantry.
All branches have snipers, but that comes after initial contract. Basic Marines are challenged the most and all of the Marines go through combat training regardless of job, because we consider everyone a rifleman.
Any other specific questions, feel free to ask.

Maybe not a direct answer, but if you look at the history of the International Sniper Competition you can see who’s historically been on top.

Fun fact: Coast Guard snipers consistently win multiservice and international competitions.

Everybody who's ever been in the military stopped right there.
Just joking. Sorta.

Everybody dreams of being a sniper, it's a long selection process. Few people have what it really takes, the combination of fieldcraft, marksmanship, and just mentality in general. It's tough.

FWIW an Army Ranger holds the record for longest confirmed kill for the US.

Not sure how true, but I do know they have to shoot a speed boat engine off a moving helicopter. I imagine shooting a static target may be super easy.

That's what I thought too. I know the USAF has some very low visibility Operators you dont want to screw with.

Oh, I don’t doubt that for a second, auggie.
The math alone blows my mind.
I’m in awe of those guys.

Why the hell would anyone put a speed boat engine on a helicopter?

Marine Corps snipers are a cut above.
SEAL Team 3 has probably the best snipers in the US armed forces, but they're far fewer in number and actually SOCOM. Marines, overall, have the best outside of that and their numbers are strong.
My cousin was being heavily pursued by Marine sniper school while in the service, but he had just finished his second deployment and left Fallujah and Tikrit during OIF/OEF, and he was ready to be out so he declined.

I good not in good conscience recommend any family relation of mine become cannon fodder for Empire. I will do everything in my power to dissuade my son from considering a military career.

I knew a Navy Seal when I lived in New Orleans. He was a sniper, but did it with a bow. In Vietnam they would be in a tree stand and shoot somebody from a great distance. The victim and those with them would not hear it coming. Said they used it to terrorize the North Vietnamese.
