Unlikely. But 3 in the tube is unusual, maybe a linguist. Tagalog is offered at DLI but I've never run across a speaker.

Spent a lovely 6 weeks in the P.I. back in my late teen years.

Without getting too much into details, this was a very normal crew compliment and the Marine was likely not a Tagalog speaker.

I've only seen polygraphs used when they were looking for a specific leak, and they were used on people who already had their clearance. They're not part of the background check in my experience.

TS doesnt require a poly necessarily dependent on assignment.

TS-SCI gets a full poly to include "lifestyle" questions to determine if the applicant is subject to blackmail. It's a highly unpleasant process to have a stranger delve into your most private of private things. The real fun starts when you start getting accused of stuff you haven't done because the operator got a blip "inconclusive" in your response after you have been sweating the box for three or four hours.

Thank you. Yeah I remember hearing about his time over in Africa. Small world. We just took a cruise together last summer. If you’re still in that world be safe out there. Take care.

Thank you. It’s a tough time. Just ready to get him home and lay him to rest. It’s been quite a process. Bigtime LSU tiger fan and just a joy of a guy to be around.

Excuse my ignorance on military matter, but Is it normal for three defense contractors to be going on routine surveillance missions on foreign soil?

Yes.

Not in my experience. I worked with a group of about 20 people on a mix of SCI/SAP and none of us got a poly as part of the SBI. Only time I saw one was when they were looking for a specific leak.
