Explain the math here please. How did it drop from 218 to 217?

One of the VA Representatives, a Democrat, died so his position is vacant. There are only 434 House Members right now. There are also some missing members because of other commitments - like Ken Buck.

I want it to go the next 2 years with no Speaker. I'd rather pay these people to do nothing than what the federal government has done the last 100 years.

Chatter (from CSPAN) ….

We may be about to see a motion (by Republicans) to adjourn until 10pm tonight. This is supposedly to give the two currently absent Congressmen time to travel back to DC.

If that happens, I’m sure we’ll see the same pattern as all previous motions to adjourn:

- A Republican will make the motion for an adjournment until 10pm
- An oral vote will be held (Republicans will vote, “AYE;” Democrats will scream, “NAY!”)
- A 15-minute electronic vote will ensue
-GOP will win the vote
- Rinse and repeat

There have been several photoshops throughout this of fake Trump announcements. That looks shopped.

They e seen the polling and read the emails. No one want McCarthy outside the beltway. And they’ve made enough of a show of this thst most voters are paying attention to it. Some reps voting for McCsrthy are going to feel it in Nov-2024.

It’s a high risk deal for the FC folks. If the RINOs get primaried, there’s and opportunity, but if not… this will hurt them in the general when conservatives tend to sit out if hey don’t like the candidate.

I'm expecting something screwy to happen-- 10pm on a Friday night?

Voters aren’t going to remember this in 2024. They may be reminded of it by primary opponents, but the anger won’t remain in any useful capacity.

Yeah, someone shopped in the little girls it seems.

I have seen them all with lists as if they are counting the votes and who is present or away on excused absence.

I bet that time coordinates with those two “missing” KM votes who are traveling back
