Four Republican lawmakers voted against a motion to adjourn the House until Thursday. If the House had not adjourned, members would have held another vote for speaker.

These are the lawmakers who opposed adjournment:

Rep. Andy Biggs
Rep. Lauren Boebert
Rep. Matt Gaetz
Rep.-elect Eli Crane

The four have voted against Rep. Kevin McCarthy for speaker.

Hell they almost just had to call an official vote on the ayes and nays to adjourn.

they had to leave the vote open longer than it was supposed to be in order to get to that outcome;

shitshow; clowns; these people shouldn't be in charge of a lemonade stand

Why do some of you all bring this up. That happens on votes alllllllll the time.

Last-minute deal-making: After a series of failed speaker votes earlier in the day, the House adjourned for several hours as Republicans continued talks.

Texas Rep. Chip Roy, one of the conservatives who has voted against McCarthy's speakership bid, told GOP leaders that he thinks he can get 10 holdouts to come along if these ongoing negotiations pan out, according to GOP sources familiar with the internal discussions, and that there are additional detractors who may be willing to vote "present."

Sources said the talks Wednesday between McCarthy allies and holdouts have been the most productive and serious ones to date. And in one sign of a breakthrough, a McCarthy-aligned super PAC agreed to not play in open Republican primaries in safe seats -- one of the big demands that conservatives had asked for but that McCarthy had resisted until this point.

Still, even if these negotiations prove successful and 10 lawmakers do flip to McCarthy's column — which is far from certain — that doesn't get McCarthy to the 218 votes to win the speakership, so he would still have more work to do.

This is fun. Mitch McConnell was posing for a photo op with Xiden today as they congratulated themselves on this godawful omnibus bill.

It wasn't the omnibus bill, dumbass, it was the infrastructure bill.

You know, that's why they were standing in front of a bridge that needs replaced.

God damn you simpletons KNOW what you know, don't you?

Have you ever seen a vote? It almost always goes over, then the stragglers come and vote when asked if anyone wants to change

But that is when a party is in charge. No party is. This shite is supposed to be straight down the line, and it wasn't.

It was all about the green new deal. They passed it in pieces just like they said they would after it failed.

So, Wednesday is right because the infrastructure bill is a part of the green new deal and the omnibus bill is the final part.

This is amazing. The libs must be melting down knowing we refuse to let McCarthy to represent us. They don’t know what to do.

You’re definitely a POG. Probably something like admin or supply. Bet the only time you actually fired a weapon was boot camp.
