I am glad to know the left suddenly cares about due process again.
Obama didn’t have much use for due process when his administration chose to summarily kill a US teenager with a drone. due process denied US teen executed by Obama admin w/o due process.

In my mind, her mother chose to take her along with her. I wouldn’t leave my two year old. She’d be coming with me regardless of citizenship.

OP ran out here like a bitch

Mods, you *must* either anchor the op, amend the title, or discipline the poster for his insanely misleading title.

There is no blanket asylum for Hondurans.
No we don’t have a blanket asylum. If they enter US illegally they can’t later claim asylum. They must claim asylum before entering the US. Before 2019 they could enter the US and then claim asylum. The people that entered illegally before 2019 can stay with the asylum process. It’s the same deal Homeland Security made with Guatemala in May 2019 and El Salvador in September 2019.
Homeland Security made it easier to come here legally. It takes a minimum of 5 years and regular immigration appointments to become a citizen.

My takeaway is that having a child born in the US doesn't anchor you here anymore. That's a good message to have out there.

Sounds like more fuel on the birthright citizenship fire to go to SCOTUS.

The mother was here illegally, so she was deported (along with her two daughters who were also here illegally). The child is a minor, thus the government will usually default to keeping the child with the parent (unless the parent is shown to be grossly negligent, abusive, etc).
When a person gets arrested and has a child with them, do the cops usually detain the child too? No. That does not happen. Kids don’t go to jail either their parents.
This child is a US citizen and should not have been in a detention facility.
Perhaps the mom elects to bring the child with her back to Honduras. But detaining the kid and saying it’s all copacetic because of the equivalent of a jail house confession is wrong. Due process is a hurdle that should be cleared when US citizens are being held in custody and deported.

Did Mom have anyone to give the anchor urchin to?

Where is the court order to remove the child?
Posted on 4/26/25 at 8:14 pm to ned nederlander
NBC and ACLU Press.....no thanks.

meanwhile, this is what a fully legal deportation with exemplary due process looks like:

99% of ALL deported are good for the entire country!
There will be a few corrections needed, but not many!

There is none. That is the point.
Do you think the child flew commercial back to Honduras?
The judge has succinctly stated the issue:
quote:
“In the interest of dispelling our strong suspicion that the government just deported a US citizen with no meaningful process,” Judge Doughty said in the order, a hearing is scheduled on May 16 in Monroe, Louisiana. The judge added, “It is illegal and unconstitutional to deport, detain for deportation, or recommend deportation of a U.S. citizen,”

Why hasn't the false incorrect title been fixed Ned?

Why did the anchor urchin go with the parent?

A federal judge in Louisiana on Friday said that a 2-year-old U.S. citizen appears to have been deported with her mother to Honduras with no meaningful due process.
Note the word in bold...appears, this may be the most numbskull OP of 2025....impressive.
