millions have it, 17 deaths is childs play

More people were killed in Chicago during this time period, and they were perfectly healthy, minus the bullet wounds.

Besides your motives.

You: " I asked what the rates now were in order to accurately predict what they may become in America."

Me: "No. You're arguing because the numbers are currently low it's not a big deal."

You: "Shut up! You don't know my motives!"

This is simply made up stuff that only exists in your mind. You can't be be serious?

Just throwing this up here, a statistical graph of the virus per country worldwide. It's a live update. Maybe a mod could sticky it since this seems to be the talk of the town.

Pence might have claimed that but it's going to take longer than a week to get it done.

My daughter works in the infectious disease department at a large Baton Rouge hospital and just yesterday I asked her if they were having a shortage of C-19 test kits.

She said they have "a hundred or so" of the kits on hand.

I asked her how many are they using each day and she laughed. She said they've used a grand total of 3 so far and all 3 tests were negative.

To me, a shortage of test kits would be occurring if there are so many people who are suspected of having the virus but can't get tested because there aren't enough test kits available.

Nothing I read says that's the case in the U.S. Maybe I've just missed that bit of news.

In the USA? I just don't see that.
Right.
Nor do I.

Frankly, nor do many of the folks generating the initial calculations.
As posted earlier, most of those were based on Chinese "data."

350..not 350,000.

I didn't know you assumed so much.

By the end of next week we'll supposedly have 4 million more distributed.
And I'm going to predict most of those test kits will eventually be thrown out because their "Use By" date will have passed...

What is the daily death toll of heart disease in America? Over 1000! Where's the daily tally reminder?

Ah ok.

So you think it will be under 350... for the whole year of 2020?

Here's the back and forth.

quote:

What are the number of cases in America and the deaths?

quote:

Does it matter what it currently is if its (seemingly) growing exponentially?

quote:

You're not answering the question.
Why not?

quote:

Because today's rates won't be what our rates will be in the future, and its what the rates could be in the future that concern people.

quote:

Fair enough, but that wasn't the question. I asked what the rates now were in order to accurately predict what they may become in America.

quote:

No, you were asking it to insinuate that it's not a big deal because the numbers were so low.

quote:

That only exists in your mind? Can you explain how it is that you know about why I asked? Thanks..should be interesting. Are you just assuming that? I hear thats bad.

So your saying you weren't trying to suggest that because the numbers were low that it's not a big deal.

Then, minutes later, you say this.

quote:

So 330,000,000 people 317 cases. 15 (old people with respiratory problems to begin with?) died. Is that a big deal?

To me, that's a bit concerning- if you get diagnosed, isolated and placed in a quarantined ICU, and it still kills you, that's serious.

I agree, that is serious to those people and family. That said, shouldn't part of that be in context to factors other than simply the virus...preexisting conditions, age, regions where the deaths occur, etc??

Yep.
But excess testing is the way to break this thing and also restore public confidence

I'm sure there's a virus, the media is creating a panic by completely overhyping the info. I believe they are doing it on purpose.

I agree. The more serious they can make it sound, the more "specials" they produce. The more "specials" they produce, the more viewers they may attract, the more viewers they attract, the more ratings they generate, the more ratings they generate, the more money they may make.
