Live on 65 between 12 and 10, I think we're in your district.

Moved down here last March, 1st big election since we moved down here (had a rezoning vote last month). We've spent a good bit of time researching national and statewide candidates
but still looking at local reps before next weeks vote since we're new.

Thanks for the info and good luck...

Term limits. Career politicians have ruined our republic.

I agree with some of your positions but the above sounds good in principal but practically, it can lead to some unintended consequences.

Consider positions on a committee. Seniority usually rules the day.

Accountability- do I want a term limited rep voting on anything much less something very important? No. Lobbyists will be better able to buy votes with term limits. Term limits encourages office jumping too. Reps will be jumping out of one office to the next office to stay in power. Eventually they become lobbyists.

As an alternative, I’d shoot for higher pay for reps. Make them less interested in taking payoffs.
Also - I’d be okay with term limits for reps that have no results to show within the first term. If they promise the lottery or no sales tax on groceries but produce no bills along those lines, automatic limited term.

Otherwise, congrats on the run. You seem sincerely interested in doing to right thing. Good luck

"-Legalize cannabis. Lotta hate for this one. Roll tide!"

Everything is wrong in this line...except for the hate.

The country spends millions to help farmers grow tobacco, and then for people not to consume it for health reason. It makes no sense for us to legalize something that we will end up paying for in increased healthcare down the road, unless we are going to put it on the users to pay for all of their own health expenses - same with tobacco, alcohol, and excessive eating.

"--I wont accept your money, but I will accept your vote."

Kick arse.

Just remember to tax the Mary Jane. Thats one of the main reasons for legalizing.

What if I were to tell you that humans were created/evolved with cannabaoid receptors?
We are supposed to consume cannabis.
Look it up.

I prefer the freedom aspect, but that is one benefit.

-End the ABC Board. Makes liquor in AL so expensive. Doesn't allow for liquor to be delivered to restaurants. Dram shop laws are keeping liquor liability expensive.

I don't think you close ABC. But absolutely close them down as a supplier. I believe every state has an alcohol regulatory agency. There are needed regulations to protect the public.

But you can cut ABC down 80%. And liquor prices will go down, helping businesses.

Yea. I was in a hurry when I typed today. End the abc stores. We’ll always regulate booze. State shouldn’t control supply.

Same with tobacco. Are we supposed to use tobacco?

WOW. I'm 100% with a candidate finally. And I cant vote for him. Well, almost 100%(so close as to not matter). I think the finance reform would negate most of the need for term limits. Most. We need to keep an eye on all politicians finances. Sorry. Just needs to be watched by the example of what they've done so far.......

I've had thoughts on stepping my foot into the political landscape in Louisiana. I don't really have any major issues with my state rep, so if I eventually decide to do something it may be city council or something.

How can you down vote this? Whether you agree with his politics or not, the fact that a fellow tiger is trying to make the country better by running an honest campaign is something we should all applaud.
