Legalizing drugs doesn't either.

Not at all.

The only way to defeat a black market is to either end the demand (not going to happen) or legitimize the supply.

That will not end a black market. All it will do is drive down the cost.

Thanking a Cartel will simply give up his money is just blindness.

A cartel would rather have 100 billion per year than none.

we have tried the "war " approach for 40yrs and it hasn't worked. It's demand. Until the american cartels called big pharma created a market for heroin, heroin was not even a major player of the US drug market. Legalization of marijuana has cut the cartels influence in the black market of marijuana use. Cocaine is not the issue it was during the 70-80's . So when the US govt start prosecuting Big Pharma for what they did to start this crisis i will pay attention.

Yes ! Legalize all drugs. Those who are too stupid to not do them risk overdosing . heroin , knock yourself out ! Cocaine : do it till your heart is content or it explodes , whichever comes first. If it happens to explode it is nobodies fault but your own. I have zero sympathy for anyone who harms themselves with self inflicted bullshite . Play stupid games ... win stupid prizes . Put the cartels out of business by legalizing it

Do you think nullifying the prohibition act made us have less alcoholics?

We never should have went to war in the Middle East and try nation-building there. We should have done that in Mexico. If we're going to have our troops stationed in a never-ending War where the effort is to rebuild an entire nation, we should have done that at the country that borders us. Not halfway around the globe.

It's not about less alcoholics. It's about crippling the crime industry built around bootlegging

Great they'd pay taxes and be subject to regulations and law suits and the free market.

I always laugh at the guy eating fast food and drinking a large soft drink while smoking a cigarette and downing a fifth of alcohol pretending like legalizing drugs is a dangerous avenue to go down.

The question isn't how do we solve drug addiction. Did prohibition repeal stop the bootleggers?

So we're talking about the crime associated with the industry and not the harm the product does to our population? Damn, that's a new angle for me.

I hate to agree with you, but you are correct. If we aren’t going to fight the cartels, we aren’t going to stop the effect of the cartels here.

My point is the more readily available you make a product the more people will use it. In the case of alcohol and drugs the more availability is not good for society. BTW, the only reason the Prohibition Act was rescinded was because the federal government realized the amount of money it was losing by not collected taxes on alcohol.

Yup. Their killing of Americans rivals any war in the history of the USA.

And they buy law enforcemet officers all alond the US side of the border and beyond.

I voted for Trump, but this issue is his biggest failure. And Kellyanne Conway leads the fight? Please! Give me Joe Digenova or someone even tougher than him.
