I kept my job because I am in an essential industry. I am apparently risking my life every day by venturing out to provide you with the services you need to survive.

Tell me again why I don’t deserve a check?

You are risking your life by choice.

What’s my choice? Quit my job and live on a $1200 check?

Same as everyone else’s. You make a choice to go to work, don’t claim some mantle of sacrifice when you do so.

You even call it a stimulus check . You sound like a democrat. People who are at home not working should get a big check while everyone working should get nothing. So we should all just quit and get this free money . Why go to work and risk getting sick if you can be payed to stay home.

Simply put the checks are for one purpose, put money into the economy to keep it afloat til this is over. Replacing a small portion of that activity lost. And somehow more is coming to stall a collapse. Does every person getting it need it or deserve it? Not the point but it is going to those most likely to turn it over quickly.

I am 52 years old. I have worked every single year since I was 16 years old. I saved money to go to college and paid back 5k in student loans. I have a successful job. I have no criminal record and I have never used drugs. I have helped a lot of relatives who never paid me back.

frick yeah ..I’m entitled to a stimulus check !

You like you some entitlements? None of your “I’m a great American” stuff makes you entitled to the labor of future generations. Just go rob your grandkids piggy bank if you are broke, same thing

I don’t think social security people should get it. Their life hasn’t changed at all.

Other than the price of things have gone up. You forget that it seems. My wife just paid over $10 for a six roll pack of Charmin at the grocery store, so there's that. You don't think the price of groceries have not gone up these last six weeks?

I am getting lashed out on social media from my teacher friends (and I am one too). I do not believe this money should go to everyone, but only those who lost their jobs. I believe this is a waste of money in many ways.

I agree with you.

This went from being a "relief" bill to a "stimulus" bill.

I have no problem with people getting their stimulus checks. What gets me is that with so many small businesses temporarily closed, it’ll probably be used at Wal-Mart, Publix, banks, utility companies, or some major online shopping deal. It’s a shame it can’t be used across the board at the moment so it can really help small businesses.

And that's what I feel. Look, this board overall is super majority Republican where I would safely estimate at least 80%. The response to my question is not that skewed, it is very mixed. I am not trying to make anybody feel bad or guilty about anything. I just have a hard time wrapping my head about it and like you said, just because it's called a stimulus bill it is a relief bill in the eyes of many people.

John Stossel had a great piece on this last week.

I agree. My daughter and i just had conv about this. She got one and my son n law got one. They have not missed a day of work since virus started. This is crazy and was a knee jerk reaction in my opinion. I do believe that workers who got layed off because of this should get stimulus and the bigger unemployment check as well. I could have qualified for the PPP package loan but did not apply. I feel better about myself no matter what anyone thinks. I am not looking for a fukng handout. I do hope it helps the ones that are in need for sure.

You sound like the a-hole on here, who tells people they’re not supposed to collect SSI if you have a retirement..

Well, good thing I filed taxes just like the rest of the people who are getting a check...

My wife and I both work in hospitals with Covid pt’s everyday, we’ll gladly take the stimulus money like everyone else..

There is absolutely no connection between these two. If you have contributed to SS your entire life, then that IS your money.

Well, I paid my taxes as well... Isn’t that what your stimulus is based on..
