I guess you forgot to mention Canada and mexico. that should not make orange boy happy.

Of the 80 World Cup matches:

10 in Canada

10 in Mexico

60 in USA

I think he is probably happy.

This.

If a Dem president got the Olympics this board would be crying about what a waste of money it is.

The US makes money when we host the Olympics. It will be the same for the World Cup.

Was there ANYTHING related to Obama that wasn't ultimately a failure?

I think that's the point he is making.

No he was replying to this.

I personally don't think the Olympics is a win, the cost to build all the facilities usually does not pay off for the hosting city.

Meaning he was agreeing about how expensive the Olympics are.

Which it's not for the US. Our existing infrastructure allows us to make a profit.

The IOC pretty much gave the games to LA and Paris because of this. There is very little that will have to built. The IOC is actually having a hard time getting solid bids for olympics. A number of cities voted against putting in bids for winter Olympics.

What's the count on this?

Somewhere between a googleplex (not the name of Google's HQ) and infinity (not the car brand).

2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics AWARDED
2026 World Cup AWARDED

Since Trump will no longer be President for either of these events, my guess is that the committees meant the awards to be a celebration of the renewed America in the post-Trump world.

Brazil is bankrupted and a disaster from hosting both.

Athens is still a disaster.

Who knows the economics behind Sochi but apparently it was the most expensive Olympics ever.

Nobody wants the Olympics anymore - they are a bloated money pit.

US will continue to get them by default because we already have the infrastructure and don't need to build every single damn venue brand new like Brazil or Sochi.

World Cup? Already have tons of stadiums.

US will keep getting these if they want because most other coutries are going to stop bidding...and America can host them on the cheap.

I wish they both would have failed...they're money losers. Also, you're dealing with 2 of the most corrupt sports organizations on the planet. Only the NCAA surpasses them.

You realize Trump and Obama had little or nothing to do with the World Cup being awarded to us (AND Mexico / Canada)?

For everyone and anyone. Have you not read any of the countless studies? The prior question was basically rhetorical.

While I don't necessarily join in the gloating...what part is propaganda?
