They are counting the ones with no test just symptoms though.

Honestly anyone in a hospital at this point could get COVID even though they went in there without it.

That's a question that should be directed at Fauci and Birx and they should answer it. If they say they don't know the answer, they should be blasted.

I just assumed they had been counting this way. I am curious if they do the same with the seasonal flu.

The number that the CDC arrives at for flu deaths is based on a lot of things besides “this guy died from the flu” written on a chart. They look at hospital utilization trends, pneumonia deaths, etc.

nah, for that they use estimated numbers based off historical averages vs current year deaths for multiple other reasons.

the estimated CDC number is about 4 x’s the actual confirmed flu deaths so far this season.

I thought this was just assumed.

So if someone dies in a car accident and has COVID19 does that count?

If you have cancer that is deemed terminal but you get drunk and drive and hit a tree, causing your death......is it not a death by car accident?

If they don't know, that is precisely why the deaths should be documented that way, so that we have complete data on underlying conditions and morbidity.

But I'm just a social scientist.

What will be interesting to see, is how many fewer show dying from pneumonia and the regular old flu than average. If pneumonia and flu deaths, or any other associated causes of death plummet drastically this year, we’ll have our answer.

no we don’t.
in real time if you know where to look, it is reported only as actual confirmed deaths cause by complications from the flu.

the CDC uses years and years of data to estimate the actual number based off several factors.
THAT number isn’t actual released until after the season is over and all data is collected and averaged out.

Probably (or at least hopefully) a better analogy is that when you have an HIV diagnosis and you die from pneumonia, HIV is the root cause.

If you have terminal cancer and are expected to live six months and you get covid19 and die in 15 days, what is the cause of death? Does covid19 have anything to do with it? Wouldn't you like to document it as covid19 until you determine the true relationship.

If we determine that covid19 (and the flue) basically accentuate the speed of underlying conditions, that's some good information to know.

Do you think there won’t be a retrospective analysis of this?
