How do we know there’s an arrangement to let them refuel and reload and he didn’t just defect?

That’s significant.

Russia has bombed their air bases and has control of the major civilian airports. Most likely he is retreating with nowhere else to land. That jet is out of commission until Romania likely gives it back to Russia.

I've been looking at the Combat Forum and the video footage of Russian casualties, POWs, destroyed helicopters/planes/tanks is pretty extensive. A lot more extensive damage to the Russians than I realized or is being reported.

Ukraine is being attacked from 3 directions. From Russia in the east, from Belarus in the north (which is only a few hrs from Kyiv) and from Crimeria in the south.

Russia holds the initiative by launching the attacks, they have numbers and they dont have to defend on 3 fronts

Airborne troops area already holding the airport by Kyiv as well

Ukraine's government will surrender before Monday..

Perhaps, but at what cost to Russia? This is looking like a long and brutal occupation. If it goes on long enough and costs enough, will the Russian people start making noise domestically? It's tough to tell what is / is not propaganda, but it sounds like the Russia people are PISSED right now at the prospect of more global sanctions.

Russian citizens were already being squeezed by inflation. Now the ruble is at record lows and the Russia stock exchanges had to be closed.

Why? what makes Ukrainian soldiers more virtuous than Russian ones?

This has been going on for under 24 hours, and the Russians already have the country's main airport. So "long and brutal" just seems like wishcasting.

Yeah a few pictures of Russian tanks and dead soldiers means nothing. Some ignorant people on here to think Ukraine is dealing any substantial damage.

I agree there will be blood on both sides.

Eventually, Russia will win by numbers.

Longterm will Russia be able to handle the occupation of Ukraine which is a large land mas.

As far as the US is concerned.
This is not our war.
We can give them military weapons, vehicles, tanks, food, and water.
As far as sending troops we need to stay away from this blood bath.

As far as the EU, they need to step up with troops if they care deeply about this.

This is nothing new in a front line vs front line ground and pound.
Once that front line is exhausted though, Ukraine has no reinforcements.

Ukraine is not ruled by a KGB psychopath and Ukraine did not invade another sovereign country.

Don't forget the media's job to disperse propaganda; I mean the Ukraine president said they will fight and win because "we are Ukraine". That's rah-rah for morale, not any deep rational thinking.

I expect we'll see plenty of examples of "Russian failures", right up until this ends with Russia in control.

And I also expect since we're America and want our populace to feel we're better than Russia, we'll keep seeing the Russian 'fails' and say on media "we wouldn't have these losses, we'd have won against them".

At some point this becomes a numbers game, sadly

Ukraine cannot and will not win a stand up fight. Won’t happen. If they dig in with fox holes and tunnels they will be cut to shreds from the air.

They are going to have to devolve into guerrilla warfare for the long haul. It works everytime when you have a determined populace.

The Mujahideen and Taliban showed you how to dig in and play the long game. Ukraine has more equipment and men than both of them did and the Soviets had a stash of Cold War weaponry when they went into Afghanistan.

You may be watching propaganda. Russia has an overwhelming advantage and will crush the Ukrainians. The real fight was over before it began.

The forum being mentioned is on Reddit; they're definitely watching propaganda.

For those of you not familiar with the Winter War Russia waged against Finland back in the WWII era, I suggest this might take a similar look to it. The Fins were a scrappy bunch and guerilla warfared a win out of it. Ukraine is a scrappy bunch as well. This might not end well for Russia. Same as Afghanistan too I suppose. They’ve not had a lot of success with these past endeavors.

Like what the US has done twice in the last 20 years. Putin is no less virtuous than the majority of American presidents during that time period
