Holy frick why would you ever practice there???

Why give up nearly a decade of your life for minimal pay?
£110,000 for a surgeon?!
Anyone who goes into that is an idiot.
It isn’t financially worth it.
I’d honestly rather save myself 14 years and thousands of dollars of debt and start working at McDonalds at 18. I’d be much happier

You would start a whole decade behind the rest of the population for that.
Screw that.

Why would you? Cap at $100k here and every competent MD is jumping on some regional corporate sales job for pharma or med devices making quadruple that. I love when government's disincentive quality.

You don't go there to start at this point unless you can't start anywhere else.
OTOH, this is probably a bunch of doctors already there who want to finish their careers where they are rather than have to completely re-establish themselves in another country which will recognize their credentials.
So you get people John Galting it a bit by keeping their earnings arbitrarily low to avoid that fiscal cliff.

A two year workshop and they let nurse Betty carve you up like a Thanksgiving Turkey.
When can we bring this shite to the states already?!?!

Nothing scary about that comment. /s

Nurses will be trained to perform surgical procedures ... slash waiting times.

This article is great because it opens up so many facets of discussion.
For instance, people have been going on and on (especially APNPs) about how doctors are overpaid yadda yadda.
Well what do you think happens when doctors are paid 120k/year?
Nurses are paid 32k/year and midlevels are now paid 50k/year.

So, in effect, all those studies that suggest the UK is way ahead of the US in healthcare are horseshite.

NHS Is an abomination yet the British people are enslaved by it

And by the way, if he woulda been in Canada, UK or Sweden, or the VA in the US there is a chance he is still waiting.
Well connected people never wait. Even in our system, if you happen to live in a town with a major FBS school, if a football player suffers an injury you can bet that they are getting an MRI within hours. Anyone else on private insurance/Medicare/Medcaid gets to go through the rehab / steroid injection routine and maybe they get one in a month. Maybe.

Screw that. I would just go back and learn how to fix luxury cars or hybrids and start a first class auto repair shop so I could fix something that society values more than people.
