I haven't. It makes your argument easier, sure, but I haven't made either of those points.

Haven't we read stories where colleges are pressuring faculty to use the student's preferred pronouns? Aren't people becoming social media targets because of their "insensitivity" because they don't use certain pronouns? Wasn't our resident sea monster spotter's brother threatened with a harassment complaint by a SF government employee because he addressed her as "Ms" in an email?

Remember when we warned about the slippery slope and liberals said: "that's not going to happen. You're just a paranoid right winger"?

For those who read the entire article it's obvious that the doctor is concerned about 'slippery slope'. And with leftists that is always a danger.

In a free society there could be hospitals that have different policies and you could choose which one to work for. The left hates the concept of a free society. They are totalitarian. That's why they prefer nationalizing the health care system and outlawing any private competition. So a doctor doesn't have a choice if he disagrees with an absurd policy.

They tried the same thing with private education shortly after the founding. There was a movement to abolish non govt schools. The USSC upheld a private school's right to exist. That will change when the left finally takes over in the US.

It's the same thing with language. The left has 1,000s of words which must not be spoken. The right has no such list.

The artcle says “sex.” You say “gender.” Which was actually at issue re this doctor?

From a medical perspective, why is “gender role” even remotely important?

If we are discussing “sex,” I would think that a doctor SHOULD say something like “a genetic male in the process of transitioning to female” or something of that sort ... because the entire descriptor is likely relevant to medical diagnosis.

I just look forward to the time when the left in this country tries to make it it illegal to own a gun if you work for the government.

They'll just argue that it's a requirement of employment so what are you bitching about?

I believe in science. I'm not engaging in anti-science fantasy for the sake of appeasement.

Exactly.

"Identifying" as a male or female doesn't make you any more of a male or female than Rachel Dolezal identifying as a black person made her a black person.

And given the importance of science in the medical profession, firing this guy is utterly absurd.

So...it isn't.

Thanks for confirming that.

You can try to back track all you want but you started this argument by saying that it's the law and if this doctor doesn't want to follow it, he can get another job. That is saying to follow the law simply because it exists or face consequences. It's akin to Rosa Parks simply has to sit in the back of the bus and if she doesn't like it, she can walk.

Then you switched gears to arguing that because it is taking place on the UK we shouldn't concern ourself with principled arguments of limited government.

Eventually someone is going to die in a hospital because nothing annotates them as the proper gender and they receive inappropriate treatment in an emergency

Nice try. I posted where it is happening. Do some leg work for yourself. I knew this was going to be your little niche to fuss about.

Transitioning to female? Is there some procedure to change one's DNA or chromosomes that I haven't heard of?

You think it’s a difficult enterprise to explain why gender dysphoria falls under the umbrella of a delusion?

If we define a delusion as any belief not consistent with reality then it seems quite trivial to be honest.

You can call it whatever makes you feel better, I suppose.

...does not equal...

No, I didn't.
