I have been watching this for 30 years. It is not new. It is just now getting the attention it deserves, but it is too little too late. We have allowed people who couldn't function in a real world job enter a field that requires the accumulation of large amounts of knowledge as well as the ability to deal with people, be compassionate, and understand their problems. In addition we have put measures in place to govern healthcare that reinforces bad habits and makes it difficult to admonish or get rid of an incompetent provider.. These are the people who will be taking care of us in the future, and also teaching new providers. Our future is blight.

People will die, the state will be sued and the tax payers will foot the bill. She'll eventually be forced out but will retire comfortably with a very nice tax payer funded pension.

Passing and “being passed” are two different things in the world of meritocracy.

It seems as though they are “being passed,” and subsequently proving (by failing the shelf test) that they really didn’t “pass.”

Given the mindset of the Jedi “warrior” in charge there, I would imagine that a student that she supports gets preferential treatment…or else.

This is sad, as deserving black students, who are bound to be exceptional doctors, get viewed negatively.

In short, if you go against the empowered Jedi warrior, your career in Academia at UCLA is…

A black friend's brother graduated from LSU med school & ended up teaching at UCLA. For 3 years. He has since left, complaining of how he was pressured to "go easy" on black med school students. She said her brother, at the first family T.Giving gathering upon coming back to La .went on for hrs about how dangerous & unsafe that med school was for future patients out there.

Plenty of old, white guys got into med school back in the day. Not nearly as many in recent years. It’s especially hard for white men to get into competitive specialties. Just take a look at Stanford’s General Surgery residents. Only a couple of white guys in the whole program. So, you can be sure that a young, white male doctor, especially one in a competitive specialty, has superstar qualifications.
