Two servicemembers are missing in Africa. The article fails to provide additional information. Unclear if they were involved in the exercise but I assume so.
We spend millions on security cooperation every year. However I am unclear as to why we would be partnering with Morocco.

We have had a presence in that region and especially Morocco since the 40’s. They are a very strategic partner for us if shite hits the fan in that region

I believe Morocco was the first nation to recognize the young US. And is our oldest lasting partner on the planet.

Seems like a pattern.
This exercise has gone on for years. We have bases & work operations with nations who have access to strategic chokepoints all over the world. Think Morocco, Djibouti, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Greece. We do joint exercises with all of these.

Well Morocco has not “welshed” on their agreements and denied us the use of the bases we built which employ hundreds of thousands of European citizens. So they are not the user friend who won’t be there when you need them.
