I do the same sometimes. Usually I carry a compact 1911 in .45 but that 7 round capacity can be a disadvantage. Two extra mags gives me 8 + 14 and I'm a pretty fast mag switcher but when split seconds mean everything I'd be lying if I said it didn't concern me.
It's just hard for me to get away from the stopping power of .45. I guess this is a better discussion for the OB or OT but I like talking about future unfortunate marine mishaps.

Yeah the current conventional wisdom is that a good JHP 9mm round has as good or nearly as good stopping power as a .45 , plus more rounds, plus better pistol control. Who knows? My pistol is just a tool to buy me time to get to my rifle, anyway.
