CNN, if they care about being a real news agency, shouldn’t be livid. They should just report the rules.

Still haven't read it but I hear Schumer broke into the news to give a spiel. So Turtle must have done well...
quote:

"After reading his resolution, it's clear Senator McConnell is hell-bent on making it much more difficult to get witnesses and documents and intent on rushing the trial through," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in a statement. "On something as important as impeachment, Senator McConnell's resolution is nothing short of a national disgrace."

So maybe I’m thinking about this wrong, but if the House is supposed to be the first to impeach then pass onto the senate, how can they add more witnesses and info?

Why didn’t the House use this info originally? How is that even legal? What’s to say the house would have voted the same way with this “new” content?

The exact info that was voted on in the House is what should be used

However, at least one major difference from the Clinton process has caught the eye of Democrats: The resolution cuts short the number of days each side can make arguments in the case. Rather than allow 24 hours of arguments that could extend over three days as was the case for Clinton, McConnell's resolution shortens the number of days to two. Democrats argue that would leave them arguing their case into the middle of the night and into the next morning, pushing the debate to the "dead of night," a Democratic aide working on the trial sai

I love this part. Dims mad because they can’t spread their Propaganda during Primetime.

I was told in another thread that the Senate had already adopted its rules, through standing rules, and was shouted down when suggesting otherwise

That is beautiful. Thanks for quoting that. I knew that Schumer wouldn't drag his arse to give a statement to his DNC CNN team for nothing.

There is another set of general rules for ALL impeachments, adopted back in the 1980s. These rules are specific to this case and work as a sort of overlay to those rules..

On something as important as impeachment, the behavior of House Democrats has been nothing short of unfathomable.

You are spot on, Turtle even having a vote on witnesses and subpoenaed docs is gracious. It looks like (not quite sure yet) That barring any surprises Turtle has the votes to essentially dismiss with a yay or nay immediate vote after they hear from the Democrats lawyers and Trump's lawyers. This is another reason CNN/Schumer/The media/DNC are fuming.

Sounds like Turtle told the Romney's to hear them all out and barring no surprises he has the votes to dismiss. (Maybe Romney saw his poll numbers?)

I have read it. No surprise Chuckie's upset; McConnell did VERY well. Time restraints for everything. No stalling, grandiose speeches. No witnesses unless agreed to by the senate, and have been deposed.
