We should have returned Constantinople to the Greeks after World War I.

This is all being done to ensure Turkey becomes the center of Islamic Civilization.

I believe the next major war involves Turkey. Between Syria, Libya, Mediterranean Oil, denouncing Israel, supporting Azerbaijan, pushing around the Greeks, continued occupation of Cyprus, aiding and abetting mass Muslim immigration into Europe and probably narcotics, support to Chechen exiles, involvement in Central Asian Politics, invading Iraq and attacking the Kurds, pissing off the Patriarch of Moscow, and anti-Americanism: something is going to give.

New news from yesterday. Jul 9, 2020

quote:

Turkey is lashing out at the United States as Washington moves closer to providing Cyprus with military aid as the disputed island nation develops closer energy ties with Israel.

The Turkish reaction came after the US Embassy in Cyprus said Wednesday that the United States planned to provide international military education and training to the Republic of Cyprus "beginning in U.S. fiscal year 2021, subject to Congressional appropriations and notification."

LINK

Turkey has done a pretty good job of lobbying Congress in the past. Bob Livingston has represented them in the past and therefore has convinced some in the Louisiana delegation to vote in their favor. Make sure your congressmen are not cucked by the Turks.

If they can return its former Mosque status,

then certainly it can be returned to its former former status as a church.

And, Istanbul could one day be returned to Constantinople.

If the situation is fluid, then it can be fluid in any direction, no?

Way past time to kick Turkey out of NATO and get our troops and nukes out of Incirlik Air Force Base.

Why not to a Christian church? It was that before it was a Mosque.

was once the crown jewel of Christendom. A sad day.

Is it really, though? The building hasn't been a Christian Church in almost 600 years, and has already been a mosque for most of that time.

I hope the Turks don't vandalize the murals more than they have already.

You think they are going to decide now after all that time that they want to destroy the place? It has been Turkish for an incredibly long time--the building is as sacred and important to them as it is to Christians, if not more so.

I personally think it's a sad reminder of the influence of that satanic religion that has been spread through violence.

The Church of Jesus Christ is made up of His elect people, not buildings.

So? It was a church for much longer than it was a mosque.

I was able to visit it while it was a museum fortunately. Worth noting the Turks (a supposed NATO ally) are also occupying northern Cyprus

The Turkish military has had a wild year. They started with backing the Syrian rebel invasion of north eastern Syria against the YPG. Months later they launched a major aerial and even ground campaign against the Syrian army in northwestern Syria (though admittedly this one was not as successful). They've also pushed even deeper into PKK territory in northern Iraq in defiance of world opinion.

In January they also started deploying advisors and modern weapons systems to the Tripoli government in Libya as they tried to hold out against Haftar's UAE and Russia supported army from the east. Their aid was so effective they broke the siege of Tripoli and are now in a war scare/stare down with Egypt who also backs Haftar. They've had a crazy year. They defied the US and attacked the YPG in Syria, they defied Moscow not only by attacking Assad's army in Syria but also by attacking Haftar in Libya. They helped the Tripoli government win major victories in defiance of basically everyone- Russia, UAE, Egypt, France. These guys have spent all of 2020 giving a giant middle finger to every other country in the region.
