They just need to pull back and give the buffer
You do understand that something like 75% of the population in NE Syria is within that buffer zone? Most of the rest is desert that is inhabitable except for Raqqa and the river valley above it. It would be like telling folks in Louisiana to give up Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, and Lake Charles.

Does OP consider himself a conservative? You CANNOT have a limited government here at home while policing the world. War is the health of the state. Do you know why there wasn't a Deep State before WW2? Because we generally minded our own business. Permanent war requires a Deep State. It destroys the Republic and turns into a country where rule by emergency decree is the norm.

Yes. For limited government, balanced budgets, strong second amendment/first amendment. Hell, I wouldn't even be opposed to leaving Syria if done in that right way. We should have given the Kurds enough time to realign with Assad with some sort of power sharing arrangement. Trump hasn't even withdrawn our troops from Syria, he's just moved 50 troops away and has enabled a genocide in the process.

They don’t have to leave but they aren’t going to like it if they don’t...
You are exaggerating as well concerning the area and the population as well...

They had time, they had their offer, they fricked around thinking they could keep us there to help them make claim to their dirt... shite didn’t work and I am damn glad those 50 troops are not in the middle of it all...

There was never going to be a power sharing agreement. The Kurds had plenty of time in fact, to strike a deal with the government. They knew that the US was going to leave eventually, especially after last summer and this December. Given how many times the Kurds have been screwed by the US, they should have planned for the possibility of the US leaving. In fact, multiple actors in the war, none of whom were directly fighting the Kurds, told them that it would be in their best interest to realign with Assad. The Syrian governments consistent demand has been for the Kurds to lay down their arms, at which point the SAA would move in. The very fact of the SAA controlling the border region would have dissuaded the Turks from this invasion.
Any notion that this was last minute, knee-jerk decision, is just posturing. The Kurds had plenty of time to negotiate with the government, but always refused the key demand, which was to disarm.

Maybe he is trying to force NATO to actually do what they are tasked to do?

Since you're ignoring my first one, I will ask again.
What is considered the right way?

It was the next sentence in my earlier post. Officially tell the Kurds that we're out in "X" months (6-12 probably). Give them time to negotiate a power sharing arrangement with Assad and then once that is in place withdraw. Use our base in Jordan as a special ops hub for insertion into Syria and Iraq to kill jihadis going forward.

Pull out, but not really?

I would think even those in the "die hard" America First ground would realize the need for at least one base in the middle east to stage special ops raids from. We can kill from the air for sure but sometimes capturing people alive can glean more intel.

Turkey has now shelled US soldiers that were at an observation post near Kobane, forcing them to retreat, and Turkish backed rebels have executed and beheaded several Kurdish civilians that were traveling on the M4 highway. We are well on the way to an ISIS resurgence and Kurds being slaughtered. All of this and no US troops have been withdrawn from Syria. Great job Trump!
