I can seldom comprehend the Tribal/Islamic dynamics over there. I assume the Turks, Assad and ISIS are Sunnis; is that correct? What are the Kurds; some Christian?
Turkey may be setting themselves up with a costly endeavor: if they leave rebellious and revengeful (rightfully so) Kurds alive, there could be suicide bombings for years. The Turks only solution would be a genocidal cleansing of the Kurds and World moral outrage, which I assume would lead to devastating economic repercussions via UN approved and US led Sanctions. What does Turkey have of value to the World Economy; other that being in a key geographic position re the flow of oil?
Where does Iran and SA interests fit in here; Economic and Religious?
WTF! I can understand what God is better than the ME!

Thanks for the reminder. Muddies the water more for me on this issue. It was an ISIS attack. Do we leave and let them slowly regroup? I really don't know.

Trump Threatens To Obliterate Turkish Economy
Is he going to follow through on this? Erdogan apparently wasn't impressed. Moveover, even if he does follow through, is it going to be enough to protect our Kurdish allies?

This was planned dude.
So that "threat to obliterate the Turkish economy" was all just a smokescreen? If so, that's pretty fricked up.
I know Trump has two buildings in Istanbul (Trump Towers) so he's got ties to Turkey, but why would he let Erdogan thumb his nose at the US by what appears to be ignorance to the threat Trump made?
It just makes us look stupid.

No the buffer zone Turkey is going to create. His threat was if they do anything more.

Something like 97% are Sunni, 1-2% are Shia, and the rest are a negligible percentage spread between various religions.

frick the Middle East. Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan. All of it.
No more dead Americans defending dirt piles thousands of miles away, all for the petro-dollar.
America first, always.
Time for serious talk:
We are better served to use those troops to create a demilitarized buffer zone south of the Rio Grande and secure our southern border.
