re: Tucker Carlson says Moscow, Russia is "nicer than any city" in the United States

Moscow and St Petersburg have always been Russia’s showpieces. Even in the depths of the USSR communist repression, these cities had the outward appearance of wealth and prosperity. It’s central to Russian self-delusion and propaganda. Always has been.
Under the surface, it’s a different reality. If you walk out onto a Russian street in Moscow and hold up a blank poster board you will be detained. If you go outside of the shiny city you will find crumbling infrastructure and repression. There’s a reason for extreme alcoholism, sky high abortion rates and lack of health or education in the countryside. The nation as a whole is a suffering mess.
But Moscow is shiny and flashy, like any lure.

We for our part wasted twenty years, and a fortune, in Iraq and Afghanistan. We could have been building things and investing in America, but we didn't.
You could have all that money back and it wouldn't matter. They both cost about $100-150 billion per year. In 2022 just the federal student loan program cost $482 billion.
I'm find with cutting back our commitments, stop wasting lives, all of that, but defense spending, even counting those two wars, isn't our main problem. You could zero out our defense budget and we'd still have a deficit.

I would however caution about white knighting for Moscow and the infrastructure. Whereas some of the stations look nice, the maintenance of the trains suck . I was there in 2010 and got on a subway and it just stopped. Waited 45 minutes until some cops came down the tunnel with flashlights to get all the people to the platform. The next day that line was still down. That would not happen in NYC.
lol, just scroll nyc subway Twitter and see all the times it was delayed.
This is more about the people we have here which leads to the degradation of everything. But to act like they don’t have their own issues is crazy.

Northbound 6 trains are delayed because a disruptive person tried to light his hat on fire at 51 St.

We suspect someone has intentionally disrupted thousands of commutes on the 2/3 lines today by activating multiple trains’ emergency brakes. If you see any suspicious behavior, please @ or DM us details ASAP, including car #, so we can get trains back on schedule

Another multipage thread about russia where the poliboard posters show they understand basically nothing while acting as if they know everything. Gotta love it
Uhh.. it’s not hard to see that many other countries take some pride in their urban areas and do not put up with crap.
Meanwhile we cannot offend, misgender, or show any “privilege”… so we have to let our places go to shite in the name of equality.

You just described democrat cities in the us.
Substitute alcohol with opioid use.

Yea!! Or bums can afford opioids, tranq, fentanyl, heroin, and meth! Not that cheap vodka.
Kind of interesting how it’s a flip. Our major cities are wrecks with everything you mentioned in them… but the countryside is better. Funny how that happened.

We live in a godless soulless country that is eerily similar to when Rome fell.
We are also Sodom and Gomorrah
My old lady and I were just saying the same thing...
While people feel sorry for the homeless and the criminal and their rights, a great nation is more concerned about the rights of the Little old lady to be able to walk through a clean and safe subway system.
Just take a look at the USA today... Where the USA is so woke that they care more for the rights of the criminal that the cop enforcing the laws.

What is Tucker's point though? Is he going soft on his country and seeing the allure of another?
Did you listen to the interview? He explains himself very well.

2010???? 14 years ago????
Wow, thanks for your accurate and up to date insight! Personally, I'ma take Tucker's word for it, his observations also match other folks I trust observations. One of which is in Russia right now.

You miss the point
The next day that same train was still stuck. That would not happen in NYC on a major line in Manhattan. It just would not.
While people like Tucker get all creamy about Putin's Moscow, the fact remains that the white part in chicken shite is still chicken shite.

A few years ago the sun came out ONE day in the entire month of December in Moscow. Definitely the place to move.

On another note, what evidence is there that Lake Chuck Fan is not a Russian troll farmer?

That’s not really true. They had state enforced atheism for 70 years. The number of Russians who identify now as Orthodox is almost 80% which sounds great, but a lot of that is tribal affiliation as opposed to sincere religious belief. Only around 5% of Russians say they attend Church even as often as once a month, 56% say they believe in God, and just over 30% believe in an after life. In other words, the United States is still significantly more religious than Russia

Now tell us how the rest of the country fairs.

So move to Russia. Be subject to the shakedown by the local authorities. Tucker does not tell you about that.try opening a business. Find out all the payoffs you will have to put up with from the municipal apparatchiks to the local mafia heavy.
That's just to get started before any build outs. Then negotiate with someone to provide you with labor and the premium you will have to pay him and only him. Objectively, the US and Canada is easy compared to it. Tucker does not tell you that.

Honest question because you're posting like you may have - have you been part of a startup in Russia?
