He asked you a specific question about a specific kind of "training"

No, he was referring to our businesses in which I stated we still train ourselves and our staffs. That training requires leaving our location and traveling, sometimes out of country, to get the training.

He didn't ask if you ever did any kind of training. He asked if you would shut everything down to practice opening and closing Word documents over and over. But you know that.

So you are trying to compare my wife and I getting training to shutting down the whole business and saying that it's apples to apples.

You know damn well that it's not apples to apples..

You are trying to suggest the whole of the military is flying in and abandoning posts to be in DC.

Let's keep it apples to apples.

My apple... We train in things we do not like.

Military personnel train in things they do not like.

BOTH requires they leave certain training or work behind for "X" amount of days.

Stupid. A waste of money. But if I were anywhere near it I’d be rocking the biggest freedom boner on the parade route.

So even know you ended up paying for it against your will, you are going to celebrate the freedom of it? LOL that's just too funny

But are germane to the effectiveness of your business.

In this case, things that in no way are germane to the effectiveness of the unit.

One type of training leads to a more effective business. The other does not.

I don't think I'm a reasonable person, I know I am.

This parade is not going to save America, nor is it going to be the end of her. Your ridiculous rants aside.

No but it’s going to be a huge black eye for the GOP. Even if Trump is the only one of them that wants it he’s still representing their party. This is horrible optics to anyone but the most die hard trumpkins for a number of different reasons.

Nonsense, there is literally not one person in this country who's gonna be like

"well I was gonna vote Republican until they had that damn parade"

You paranoid morons are ridiculous.

Exactly. Trump should be focusing on appealing to the independent swing voters, especially for a midterm like this.

This won't have the effect he (and posters here) think it will.

Yep. Stupid waste of money. Plus the visuals will not play well.

Like I said earlier in the thread I can already predict the meme/commercials:

Trump on a podium while the troops pass in review, next to a picture of Hitler doing the same.

They won't even need to add any words.

It will have negligible effect either way. And something tells me Trump knows that (he does seem to have a grasp about how to win elections after all)

Maybe the guy just genuinely wants to show some love to the military. Jesus H

Yep.

That visual is universally associated with dictators. His best bet would be to tie into a Memorial or Veterans Day event.

France gets away with it because they need to remind everyone that the have a military every so often.

To be fair, it is the USMC's birthday and Veteran's Day weekend (Veteran's Day is on Sunday).

ETA: And the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.

I'd rather we reserve national-level parades for major wartime victories.

We did this during WWII.. after WWII... etc.... There were reasons outside of the President getting his rocks of. Sometimes it pays to think....

True enough.

Look, if you want to have this parade then go have it. It won't make a major difference overall.

The only thing you should consider is that America has evolved since the WWII era. People, in general, are way more cynical. Patriotism can come in many forms. But the question is if Trump is doing this because he really loves his armed forces or is he doing this to show-off as escapism from domestic problems.

You know what would be VERY patriotic and conservative. End American involvement in the ME. Leave some tactical operations, but announce that the US needs to focus on its own borders and security and that anyone who thinks of striking us will pay dearly.

Much better then.

Or course the melt that would follow our military marching through downtown saluting Trump in front of a bunch of tanks carrying missles would be EPIC!
