BIG update: A process for removing life long Section 8 housing recipients has been drafted
- People will not be allowed to get Section 8 for more than 2 years
- October 2025 is when they're supposed to be doing the budget for 2026, these rules will be sent to the states
- The states will then notify tenants who have been on Section 8 for longer than 2 years
- They'll notify you and give you 60 to 90 days, making you aware that the program would end for you in 60 to 90 days (60 vs 90 days notice will depend on the state)
- Public housing authority representatives will be making contact with the people who are currently on Section 8 beginning with who have been on the program the longest
Section 8 will no longer be a lifestyle passed down from generation to generation

HUD spokesperson Kasey Lovett pushed back on the NYU study.
“There is plenty of data that strongly supports time limits and shows that long-term government assistance without any incentive disincentivizes able-bodied Americans to work,” Lovett said in a statement. She primarily cited statistics suggesting low employment among HUD-subsidized tenants.
Still not tired of winning

Most section 8 people are lazy trash

Holy shite. This is huge. Lots of people getting rich off section 8 and taking advantage of the system.

My neighbor has 3 section 8 houses he owns. He knows I am building my rental portfolio and tried to convince me to turn a few of mine into section 8. He's also black and already hates Trump. I can't wait to tell him this news.

This is one thing that always bothered me. Gov assistance should be a TEMPORARY solution to help people get back on their feet. Not a way of life passed on to generations.

Interested in the mechanics of this.
Is there back doors to this like the Medicaid discussion?
I have a very hard time thinking blue states will get in line with this. But if this is truly just federally funded only; then they can pull the plug.
This is needed sorely.
People need to get to work.

Now do the rules that enforce welfare or EBT.

This should definitely fix the homelessness problem

Media is gonna hammer him for this but who cares. It is the right thing to do

Why are you conflating a drug abuse issue with Section 8?

Survive or die.
Don't you support evolution? How does paying for these breeders improve our species?

The Ronbot and Massie crowd try to claim Trump isn’t conservative but there’s no other Republican administration I can recall that’s actually governed as conservatively as Trump. This is another reform conservatives have wanted and Trump is delivering.

Of course there would be exceptions to indigent of special interests such as old, handicapped and such

Do Welfare and food stamps next. Limit both of those to two years max/recipient.
Audit the disability rolls. Kick the frauds off. That is the biggest scam system out there now.

This would probably also end up depressing housing costs in time, b/c this is free money fueling a lot of the RE market. Removing this will likely lower rents, de-valuing rental properties, and resetting the market on both axes.

Federal funding across the board should be cut and things like this should be handled at the local and state level.
Housing
Food stamps
Welfare
Etc
Should all be state programs not federal programs.
A blue state wants generational section 8 housing? Fine. Codify it into your own tax code.
Getting the federal government out of as much things not related to national defense and foreign relations as possible is a good thing.
