That’s a rationalization being used after the fact. It just is.
Iran's military structure was set in advance so that if leadership got taken out, the plan would not. That plan was always to control the Straits of Hormuz. Once Iran was a nuclear threat, it would have taken control of the straits. That was the sole purpose of Iran's navy, complete with extensive mining capacity and land based support.

Yep payback is a bitch and the UK will have to figure it out themselves. They’re already going to be dependent on the US for natural gas this winter.

How incredibly naïve. Homuz was always going to be an issue at a time of Iran's choosing.
Exactly.

Having a contingency plan to close the Strait as a result of being bombed is not the same thing as they were always going to do it.
Produce evidence that Iran was going to close the Strait prior to being bombed.
That would be a huge help to the US cause.
All of those Mossad agents high up in the IRGC need to produce this intelligence.

That will leave the door open for future negotiations as the people in the UK are being genocided slowly.

quote:Ever since the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Iranian leaders periodically raised the possibility of blockading Hormuz to leverage geopolitical pressure. Throughout the 2010s, Tehran made threats to close the strait in response to U.S. pressure, sanctions, and threats against its oil exports. In 2018–2019, Iranian officials warned they could block Hormuz. It's a matter of public record, no Intel required.

Plus, several times over the years they've laid a few mines in the strait.
It was going to happen eventually

I think we can all agree that the US providing actual justification would do wonders for both international and domestic support.
Trump keeps asking for more support from our allies, and providing that justification would go a long way towards more support.
Because “we had to because they would have done it eventually” isn’t gaining any traction so far.
I’m hoping they get it together and actually make this case stronger.

It’s not a fact though. It’s a fancy projection. Have fun with it.

As is your definitive statement. Dummy! Typical liberal projection.
