He posts this and then a few hours later posts an announcement for the upcoming historic summit with the UK to take place late April

Does Iran have USA technology like Ukraine? Ukraine is a much better military than Iran.

It’s not a fact though.
It is not a fact that since 1979, Iran has constantly threatened closure of the Straits of Hormuz? Really?

In *response* to being attacked, yes? Not because they were just waiting to get strong enough as you’ve asserted.

"Ukraine is a much better military than Iran"
not before this started. Iran was ranked 16, Ukraine 20.
you have a hard time with the fact we went through #16 (who was using #2&3 tech to defend themselves) like butter don't you?

Sorry, but once again, since 1979, Iran has repeatedly used control over the Strait of Hormuz as a coercive bargaining tool to extract political concessions or deter economic pressure, often in the absence of any military engagement.

"They never did it. But, they could have done it. And they did it now in response to our invasion. So, because they did it, that shows we needed to act."

Are we going to take pre-war rankings seriously? No one should take pre-war rankings seriously. Everyone should know by now that you have to wait until at least week three or four of the war before ranking anyone. The traditional, blue blood military powers are always given preferential treatment in such pre-war rankings. Hell, most of the military pundits don't even look at military makeup or war footing strategies pre-war, they just go off of the previous war rankings. Don't even get me started on the military leader polls. They're so busy pre-war that they just pass the voting off to some underling Secretary who doesn't know their arse from a hole in the ground.

quote:Iranian "fast boats" would swarm commercial vessels, demanding they state their cargo, destination, and nationality to assert "Iranian sovereignty" over international waters.
"They never did it. But, they could have done it. And they did it now in response to our invasion. So, because they did it, that shows we needed to act."
At points, they conducted small-scale attacks using limpet mines on two or three tankers, cause maritime insurance companies to "restructure" or cancel coverage for the entire region.
More recently Iran jammed or "spoofed" GPS signals in the strait, making a ship's navigation system show it was in international waters when it was actually being lured into Iranian territorial waters. Once the ship "violated" Iranian waters, it was detained. This allowed Iran to seize a ship while claiming they were merely enforcing maritime law.
In February 2026 (just before the war), Iran announced a full closure of the strait for "live-fire drills" during nuclear negotiations.
The result in each of these cases was that, even if the water was physically clear, the Strait was de facto "closed" to any ship which couldn't afford the massive jump in insurance premiums. In this manner Iran effectively choked off traffic without having to fire a single shot at them. It both intimidated crews, and escalated insurance premiums, which effectively shut down or severely limited commercial shipping.

It's an annual list. Not a pre-war or post war list.
the person I'm responding to made a bold statement (Ukraine has a much stronger military than Iran).
I'm pointing out he pulled that out of his arse........ which appears to be the same source you get your material from.
