The $15 billion Mesabi Metallics steel mill, billed as the largest in U.S. history, will draw iron ore from a new Minnesota mine and produce up to 10 million tons of steel annually starting around 2030. It expects to create 1,750 permanent jobs in Iowa and 350 in Minnesota, with executives joining Trump, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Export-Import Bank Chairman John Jovanovic for the 2 p.m. ET reveal. Backers credit tariffs for sparking this fully American supply chain investment ahead of midterms, though some question its Iowa location and the company's past finances.

I mean, they still have to wrestle mineral rights from an American company if they want this mine to last beyond 20 years or so. They lost those rights the first time they tried to build this mining project and declared bankruptcy owing tens of millions to the state and others. That was a decade ago. Those rights were stripped from Essar/Mesabi and granted to Cleveland-Cliffs. Essar will have to sue to get them back, and I think they're going for billions in "damages", too.
