Nice word play in an attempt to wrap this up before Donnie's approval ratings sink even lower.

He is not worried about his approval ratings and especially in the two to four month time frame. And there will be a lot more deal Iranian luminaries in that time frame.
I can't wait until tomorrow morning to get the videos of the next series of gargantuan blowups of Iranian stuff on the pinned thread.
Edit: Silly me

That's what so funny.

Brits could get their own oil in the North Sea but won't. Instead they are letting the Norwegians get it all. Idiots.

He’s been in shambles about rates for a while. Morgages were supposed to be in the 4s by now, according to him a year ago. And two years ago.

I don’t want to get sidetracked though. This is about Trump seemingly implying that we may just leave the straight as is.

Also, of note, Hegseth said "regime change has occurred in Iran." No shite they've killed everyone and then the ones after that.

So, you're agreeing with him but you you're still pissed off?

What a dumbass.

Rates were in the high 4s before this Iran expedition
The 10yr would have been at 3.5

It’s the end of global American hegemony.

Unable to collapse the Iranian regime from the air, sparked a global energy crisis, and now telling our allies to go and fix the crisis we created. All for Israel.

You're getting DV'ed, but this is a tell tale sign of a dying empire. To go to war for stupider reasons that have no material benefit to the nation at hand or it's citizens.

If you were a child in Great Britain in the late 1800's, the sun never set on the British empire and you grew up believing that this is the way the world is, that your country rules over most of the land on the globe. By the time you would be an old man, you would watch Britain battle Argentina for control of the Falkland Islands.

That will be for the best.

American hegemony has spread a lot of death and destruction over the last 25 years.

Who, in your opinion, will be the new hegemon?

Multipolar and in this scenario China just got a lot more powerful and their long-term outlook gets a lot better.

I have been thinking about that a lot the past few months. It makes me wonder if something was going to blow financially and Trump was told behind the scenes he had to make these moves to protect our dominance.

If the US kicked the proverbial hornets nest and then left the worldwide oil economy in shambles, telling Europe to deal with the fallout we caused themselves, you don't think a few will second guess their choices to help the US if it hurts them? Especially if countries who chose not to help us are permitted safe passage through the straight?

You don't see how this would cause problems with some of our strongest allies? The ones who helped us engage in this folly?

I think Occam's Razor comes into play and he just got bad advice from ideologues that other presidents (including the earlier version of Trump) were smart enough to ignore.
