Like we give a frick about idealogical consistency

Oil companies already lost 10 billion from capital investments 30 years ago.
They will need to recoup that plus new capital investments.

The Venezuelan military is in the drug business. It is how they were able to allow the oil production to slow dramatically. They simply replaced the revenue.
This is not over and she either plays with us or she will be cast out as well. This is the biggest opportunity for the USA in my lifetime and I do not believe it will be wasted.
The shade is being pulled back for all to see inside, slowly but surely.

That is my point
At least you're honest about it

Now, can she and others be talking a good game with a gun at their heads if they stray from what the US wants? Certainly. But if not, this isn't going to be nearly as neat and clean as what is being suggested.
Surely we have some plan working right now as to where we steer this ship. I hope we are not in a two weeks to get our act together mode.

1 - China is emboldened to take Taiwan.
1. Why not? It is part of China. Read about the white terror era of Taiwan, they are not good people. I lived there for a bit and can’t fathom why we support them beyond because Japan wants it to be a problem for China. But hell even Japan doesn’t recognize Taiwan as an independent country. Even they recognize it is part of China.
2. That seems to be the plan. With US support.

- the US taxpayer pays for the reconstruction / rebuild. Let the oil companies, and others, who will profit from this pay the bills.
This is exactly what will happen. Always does. There are a bunch of companies that will make a shitload of money from it and another group that will make a killing financing it all. The U.S. taxpayers will get nothing but the bill.

Well, to be fair, Caracas had an air defense network that was supposed to be the pinnacle of eastern bloc tech designed specifically to counter American Air Power. And we just wasted it like it wasn’t even there.
Maybe those shitty F-35s are a bit better than we’re giving them credit for.
And I promise you the eastern bloc nations are paying attention.
Or it means there was an arrangement with Maduro in advance.
And/or the defense systems weren't even manned, just sort of sitting there.

Why would this embolden China to take Taiwan? Y
Establishing regional dominance as an international paradigm gives them domain over Taiwan. We couldn't remain ideologically consistent using the rhetoric with Venezuela and then criticize China for making Taiwan its Venezuela.

You think China has given a frick about world opinion, international law, what other countries do, etc?
This is about the US following the precedent that people are arguing we just set.
quote:
The only thing China calculates when it comes to Taiwan is the response from the US and Japan
And this precednet, if its exists, would prohibit the US from responding.
People like you in the US Gov. is what has damaged the USA more than anything else .

Are you implying that you are OK with US taxpayers paying for the rebuild?

There are only 2 things that make me not want to vomit about this
1- Venezuela is in our hemisphere, as opposed to some desert across the world or Ukraine. We don’t need China fricking around in South America
2- Trump is honest that it’s about the oil
I do find it hilarious, however, that the Lindsay Grahams of the world- think this is awesome, but we have the same motivation as Putin to not have people we don’t like on our doorstep. Regardless - neocons happy about it is a total red flag for me.

China is having second thoughts on Taiwan. They and the world just sat and watched the US military shred through one of their most advance early warning radar system like it wasn't even there.
We just showed the world that China's military even though large in size is still 20 years behind when it comes to weapons systems and an established war doctrine.
They are a paper tiger still.
