It’s pretty cool how everyone on this boards either reads the title of an OP or the first sentence of a post then skips the rest and goes off on some emotional tirade.

Iran has absolutely been a threat to America and its citizens. They killed hundreds if not thousands of Americans in Iraq. They’ve been THE destabilizing force in the region for decades and terrorized nearly all of our allies in the region, not just Israel.
We backed Iraq in a war against them and allowed them to use chemical weapons on Kurdish Iranians. It would be a fairy tale world to pretend we haven't caused chaos in the region as well. Yes the Iranians have been a force for all sorts of chaos in the region. We could completely decimate them and the region will still be fricked. There is no reason for us to be in that region.

Maybe we shouldn't be there?

I don’t want to decimate them. I want them to become at least a palatable country in the region that doesn’t spread terror all over. The Quds force is the second most active special operations unit in the world right behind the USA. Their reach is much wider than most realize.

I mean, oil is a pretty big reason to be there.

We like having an influence on the global oil trade. It’s not that complicated.
And about us backing Iraq in the Iran/Iraq war. That was after they stormed our embassy and took our people hostage.

I agree. Pre emptively attacking them probably doesn't help that. We'll see how it plays out.

It is our interest for oil to be traded in dollars. That is our only interest in the oil. We have bases there to protect the oil and gas countries in the region. We have been unable to completely protect them after attacking the Iranians.

Hindsight 20/20, we should’ve attacked them in 1979.

Except that plenty of people knew exactly what the consequences would likely be. This is a version of Trump thinking we're invincible and ignoring the smartest people in the room.

Negative. The consequences are what they are because we didn’t prosecute the war early enough. For whatever reason, Trump did not act when the momentum was on the oppositions side. That was a golden opportunity and it appears to have been missed. I don’t know if it was because we didn’t have the assets in place or because of the Olympics or Israel or whatever but it was a mistake.
As it stands now the only option I see if for the US military to take control of the Strait of Hormuz. Regime change is probably not gonna happen anytime soon.

I paid $3.45 a gallon for gas this morning in northeast Louisiana.

See, this is what I don’t understand. If you don’t know the reason(s) why this or that was done or not done, why decisions were made one way or another way, reasons for action or inaction……then how does one come to any credible or reliable conclusion as to whether something(s) was “a mistake?”
How do so many amongst us come to so many oftentimes spectacular conclusions on every aspect of the whole thing….without basically any of the most critical and relevant information (naturally, information from “behind the scenes” to which of course none of us has access or knowledge)? Not to mention how utterly confident we/they are in sharing said uninformed conclusions.

No administration can ever be questioned because we don't have the info they do!

I’m capable of seeing what’s happening with the war and drawing reasonable conclusions based on public information, history and my own previous experience.
Let me ask you this, if someone makes a post on this board saying who great the war has gone or that Trump “snookered” Iran, do you reply to them the same way you just replied to me?

Some just can’t see reality through trumps nutsack hanging over their eyes

The MOU is probably the dumbest thing I ever saw insofar as international relations focusing on the Middle East
It’s laughable
Trump screwed up here. He listened to the neocons and Israel and got sucked into something he has to find a way out of .
Any attempts to try and make this look like some sort of Mensa chess move is a joke. It’s revisionist history x 100.

And what way would that be? Because I have no clue what you’re getting at. Before you answer, be sure to take note of the specific use of words like “one,” as in a generic reference to a non-specified person, and “amongst us,” which would by its plain meaning imply ALL of “us,” as well as “we/they.” That having been highlighted, again, I’d appreciate some clarification there. TIA

Yeah, that’s a pretty hilarious take on the situation. Trump desperately just wants out of this shitshow …

Yep, ol' POTUS Trump messed up so bad that the IRGC and Supreme Leader are dancing in the streets and praying POTUS Trump is POTUS forever.
