Interest Rates in the United States should be 1%, or less, because we are the Best Credit in the World — BY FAR. Our Country is BOOMING with new Investment! If we stopped Trading with every country that we have a Deficit with, which is most of them, we would make, at least, 1.5 Trillion Dollars a year. The word “Deficit” is nothing more than a fancy word for LOSS. We are “carrying” almost every country in the World, and that cannot go on any longer. LOWER THE INTEREST RATES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND FAST! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Truth social obviously.

He cannot be taken seriously

This is somehow dumber than his $21T comment, which was a Biden-level comment.

Pretty dumb but he has got to push his narrative for midterms.

A huge failure that no one should overlook is Powell dropping rates 50 basis points just before the election. Clearly a political move and inflation was no where near target when he did it.

If he thinks the Federal Funds Rate should be under 1%, he’s delusional, but his logic is also deeply flawed. The Federal Funds rate in and of itself has nothing to do with US credit as it is paid to and from private banks.

If he thinks long term rates should be 1% or under, boasting about how strong the US economy is will not help. Long term rates are driven primarily by demand, and there isn’t much demand for US treasuries at 1% when the economy is booming.

I do, however, appreciate his commitment to the bit.

He’s not wrong about this. And it has been treated as a loss. How much did we give Ukraine? How much do we supplement NATO? How much do we give aid? Enough is enough.

His narrative that he's tanked the economy so bad that the fed has to raise rates for the first time in 3 years?

That’s because Trump’s plan to pay off the debt is to inflate it away in a high growth environment. I don’t know if it’s a very good plan, but that’s what he’s trying to do.

Could you imagine how irresponsible people and companies would be if money was that cheap?

People were already overpaying for houses by thousands when rates were in the low 2s

Essentially nothing he has ever said reaches the bar of a Biden-level comment which, while higher than most here think, is still a fairly unimpressive bar.

Neither do the people on the board cheering higher rates, it won’t do anything for food, fuel, or housing and will increase credit card, mortgage, and short term loan interest rates

We arent cheering for higher rates. Higher rates are not ideal, but the reality is that its the conditions of the economy thay determines that, not politicians. We're cheering people standing up to nonsense and doing the responsible thing.

So it isn't Trump's fault...

If you want to have an honest discussion, Ill bite. Prices are up and housing has stalled, both have been expected but also probably exacerbated by the Iran war which has been handled poorly.

The feds should have never lowered rates until inflation was killed. If Trump can get the oil stream under control and stabilize the market (big if) then the situation can absolutely be salvaged if GDP growth comes in at 5% like they are saying today.

Higher rates won’t change any of the issues Americans are concerned with economically, in fact it will likely make the housing, cc, and car industry much worse. Politicians created the mess in the economy as did the Fed lol they aren’t impacted by higher rates. You are impacted
