Technically he is right.
The president has the power to declassify(the ironic thing here is that with such a power, at any time his supporters could of demanded he de-classify all the evidence of Obama wiretaps) so nothing he did is technically illegal.
However, it is reckless, precedent breaking, and potentially could harm American security and the health of intelligence officers in the field that are acquiring this information for our close ally. A secondary effect could be that allies will feel less comfortable sharing intelligence if it is concerned their own security and interests will get compromised by a reckless president trying to use classified intelligence to brag to non-allies how big his metaphorical dick is.

It's a fricking echo chamber. A real the boy who cried wolf situation. The sensationalism by both sides without a shred of proof makes it near impossible to get any real answers.

If it didn't, the WaPo potentially damaged USA - ally relations for political purposes.

If these anonymous sources had 1/1000 of the proof the hackers did I would be all for prosecution of Trump and all those involved.

The tweets from the White House about close advisors screaming at each other seems to suggest people aren't just laughing at this as dumb lib media or was some 11 move chess game where aides leaked disinformation to the Post to discredit them.
But sure, the possibility this was all made up is there. The possibility that the informant was mis-informed is also.

You don't need to bookmark shite. Read my previous posts on this board today. I'll happily take Pence or whoever is next if there is proof of serious wrongdoing. I'm not blinded by bias like you.

The tweets reported by a Buzzfeed journalist? The same Buzzfeed that put out the Russian dossier story.. shocking.

NYT and jake Tapper also have separate/independent confirmation of the story.
If you're hoping this story is false, you better pray harder. Also, the non-denial denials were weak as shite.

I'm sure she's in the book with the best of them, however the grown ups are trying to discuss the WaPo article without it being derailed with you morons saying "but, but, but Hillary!"
Speaking of moron...you want to discuss classified information, Trump, & of all publications: washington post yet Hillary Clinton isn't fair game when she has clearly set the precedent that "INTENT" is all that matters when it comes to classified information? Yea, OK. This isn't a vaccuum

This is a great point. Sorry that it will fly over everyone's head here.

They have been a Russian propaganda tool since Walter Duranty was disgraced for covering up the genocide in the Ukraine in the 1930s.

Could not care less what happens to Hillary Clinton. However, we're talking about Donald Trump in this thread, who is currently the President.

I'm reserving any opinion until more info comes out but reading some really nasty stuff about possible consequences of this. Allies scrambling to protect sources, etc. Nasty if true. Let the dust settle a little more.

Just as you all accuse those who believe the MSM the majority of the right believes an unhinged man who has spent his first 100 days discrediting it.

I would have loved to have more information, sure.
The bottom line is that the voters were more informed with half the info then they were with none.

You could hold off on believing either until we actually get information that consists of more than "he told them this information that we don't know what it is and this was told to us by someone we won't name".
It's like the bus driver in Billy Madison.

Billy Madison: No, you don't.
Bus Driver: Well, not me personally but a guy I know. Him and her *got it on*. Wooo-eee!
Billy Madison: No, they didn't.
Bus Driver: No, no, no they didn't. But you could imagine what it'd be like if they did, right...? Everybody on, good, great, grand, wonderful.

That is an accurate description of Rachel Maddow.
