Go look into the Greek word Makarios that gets translated blessed.
In our individualistic culture we read that as God blesses me to being a peacemaker, but that isn’t what it means.
Makarios is more a state of being where you are beyond the reach of the things of this world to affect you.

This Easter, I invite you to look at Jesus, consider what he said and did, and ask for yourself what I believe is the most important question you will ever answer: Did he really leave behind an empty tomb? And if he did, what does that mean for you?

Franklin Graham is absolutely correct.

His dad actually denied the need for Jesus. I have to take caution with Franklin for the same reasons.

Indeed, Jesus Christ - as One Third of the Triune Godhead - and Firstborn of Man, is indeed the Divinely designated "Savior" of Humanity. At least as many who ditch the Self and embrace Salvation via Jesus and the "no many cometh up any other way" Principle. Of course, "many are called and few are chosen"; I.e. (IMO) most people are not even close to STAYING in Heaven, although they will upon death be able to see it. And measure their true Self and get back to doing the work required to perfect said Self. The RCC labels this "Purgatory" and many religions like Buddhism call it 'Reincarnation' wherein they reap their Karma and move forward to refining their character. Franklin would disagree, but I'm sure he bows to the "few are chosen" Scripture. And Squirrelmeister would disagree that Jesus is a third of the Triune Godhead. Your's Truly looks forward to getting a glance of God/Heaven, and then getting back to work so that I will have something of my own to give to my Creator as a form of 'worship'. I know I'm not ready, but if I ever want to stay, I'll simply ask Jesus to wiggle his nose and perfect my character, and in I go, on Faith. I may take this option upon getting the arse kicking that is coming here, and then my clearly realized vision of Heaven when I become "absent the body and present with the Lord". To be determined.
I’m with you. I don’t know what he’s ranting about. Got some Partialism heresy to start out. “Firstborn of man” - maybe he means firstborn of creation or maybe son of man? He doesn’t understand purgatory and thinks Catholics believe the dead will be in heaven forever. He forgets about that creed he says before communion, “we look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come”. Plus I’m living rent free in his head. Poor fellow. He probably needs to take a break from this site and relax a bit.

Although I’m a Catholic, and my loyalty remains with the Pope, Brother Franklin speaks the truth here.

Hey Squirrel. Ha, I very much appreciate your extraordinary Theological knowledge. You are the best, imo. You and Foo bring it.
A break from the Forum wouldn’t hurt for sure, but since I know that a ‘break’ is guaranteed pretty soon, one way or another for me, I don’t sweat it. I, like all the hardcore posters here, just post our particular perspectives for the sake of comparisons, critiques, analysis and judgement. For me, other people’s Spiritual (Christian in this instance) beliefs are like the leaves on Oak trees. Functional on a personal level or not, and pretty much the same, but none exactly alike when minutely examined. People accept the canned version or construct and refine their own and risk the ‘heresy’ judgement from the ‘leaders’ of the flock. Jesus will judge.
I need to watch that video someone posted above of Billy Graham saying that “we don’t need Jesus”. Another wormhole or maybe a deep insight?
Bottom line for me: as many do, I believe that Jesus is one third of the Triune Godhead. But I won’t know it till I experience such. Same with you and all. And since I will be without a body in that scenario, I’ll embrace Jesus over my knowledge and go with the flow like we all will.
See ‘you’, ‘there’, if not here. Enjoy the wondrous ride.

PS. I watched the Billy Graham statement and totally agree with him. “Every knee will bow”. To Truth. And all Religions will come together. Serious nuance there but basically true via the “fogged glass” version.

Very good point. There's much help in understanding when looking back to the original koine Greek.

I hope that doesn’t mean you are in bad healthy or have a terminal illness. Hope you are just “old”.

I think that’s a good attitude to have. It shows you are open-minded. If Jesus gave you a thinking brain, he must’ve planned for you to use it to think, and not simply obey the thought police.

Me and you would have a fun visit, S. Maybe someday. A boat journey down on our beautiful Louisiana waterways and throwing out the anchor for lunch would be ideal. Open invitation.
Be well.
Be well.
