That’s what we have been doing for 50 years. The alternative of bombing Iran to hell only to create at best a power vacuum and at worst foment even more anti-American sentiment there doesn’t seem like a great plan.
Nothing lasting can be accomplished with these airstrikes alone, and that was always the case.

Did Iran want a nuke? Yes.
Because they wanted to drop it on Israel and commit suicide? No.
They wanted the security it would have provided them. Think North Korea as opposed to Saddam, or Gadaffi or Assad.
The Iranians have demonstrated for 45 years that they are rational actors in the sense that they have operated, from their perspective, in a traditional cost/benefit decision making process.
They aren't insane.
What emerges from this war is a complete unknown. No one has a clue about what might happen.
Trump took a huge chance here on a regime change war in an election year. The timing was stupid, not necessary.
For the good of the country, I hope and pray it works out but the most likely outcome is this regime survives, the Iranian people suffering increases and in 6 months Israel starts screaming that Iran is 30 days from a nuke.
Even with a nuke, Iran is zero threat the the United States. This was always an Israel problem. Let them deal with it.
