Crashing home prices would devastate every generation.

Just like TARP, four rounds of QE, covid lockdowns, importing in third world cheap labor....all great for every generation right?

You Gen Z and Millennials should be glad that responsible Boomers prevented a necessary housing and banking crash and instead decided to flood the economy with trillions of printed money(that fed their retirement accounts for 15 years)

Trump's specifically aiming at maintaining boomer and older Gen X support. He literally lays it out with his quotes.

Not what I heard (not in the context of knowing that he's also floated the 50 year mortgage idea).

What I heard is:

1. Him stating a simple truth that there are two groups of people involved in this thing and one of them is going to be hurt because their interests are diametrically opposed.

2. The implication that the solution lies outside a conventional approach (and I think he's thinking 50 year loan with that).

3. In other words, what I heard is that he's hoping to try to make/keep both groups happy.

Your ignorant generalizations arent facts. It IS a fact that Boomers STOLE from later generations to bail out their banks and mortgages. None of your insults or boomer bullshite will wipe away the receipts

The problem with that Solomon baby splitting is that it ignores the how and why we got here.

For whatever reason, housing is this sacred cow where we can't question bad decision making and pretend irrational appreciation is efficient.

The 50 year mortgage plan is this on steroids.

Car's depreciate in value, if you drive them and use them as they are intended. If you don't understand that, you're too stupid to own a home.

Nobody says you have to take 50 years to pay it off. As one’s situation improves, make extra payments. It’s a way to get people into home ownership at costs that they can afford in the present.

Ok. You keep whining, crying and complaining... My life is better today than it was in December 2024 and MUCH better than it would have been under harris.

Ghetto? Midcity is covered in newcomers and that just New Orleans. Every medium to large city isn’t untouched by the same thing. In Mandeville there is an influx into the schools of foreign students and the ghetto hasn’t been established there yet. I travel regularly into smaller cities throughout South Louisiana and Mississippi and they are as noticeable as anywhere else. Demand on higher end homes 750k and up has slowed with the 400k and under market being the best. Those are ones being exposed for sale and rentals costs of those value homes dropping down. But hey you go invest deeply into the home builders stocks , it should make you rich over the next 3-7 years since your compass surely points you towards the right path

Ya, that’s not the case with a 50 year mortgage, you’d be paying way more in interest than any price you could reasonably sell your house for.

Paid 2.48 for gasoline this morning. Last year I was paying better than 3.20. I drive 134 miles round trip and my 2010 beater gets 42 miles to the gallon. Buy 3.5 gallons a day or 18 gallons a week. I'm saving 12-15 bucks a week. Bought a 60 count of eggs Saturday at walmart for a little over $9. Last year it was almost 30. My pay raise this year was 3.5% and my Christmas bonus was 4700 and change. There are many fewer illegals when travel around my town. Sold 11 calves a few weeks ago and after commission and hauling got over $16K.

Good, and building more homes will drive them down even further. The only ones up in arms about prices going down are old people who have tons of equity(that they did nothing to earn in the first place)
