Trump will lose my vote for 2020 if he caves on the wall. He has 3 weeks in my book but if he fails again then I am off the Trump train. He has given in on too many of his campaign promises. It's time to draw the line

Yes because the media will definitely portray it that way so the American public gets it

The media has been against Trump since Day 1 and yet he's managed to keep the majority of his promises. You forget how short our attention spans are. Three weeks is a long effing time in the world of politics. Something will come along soon that will take our attention away from February 15. By the time February 15 rolls around, if no compromise has been reached, the fight will resume again as if it had never happened.

I am usually one of the first to call out Trump’s mistakes like omnibus. This doesn’t feel like a mistake. This was intentional. So the question becomes why? I believe there are two scenarios

1) Nancy and crew have some leverage that we do not know about

2) trump is giving them this for a greater victory (appear weak when you are strong)

Hence why folding now is a complete fail.

I’d say he’s doing a hell of a job when the news is 93% negative about him 100% of the time.
Take FOX news out of the equation and the coverage is 100% negative.

I say that because it really is significant. One lone network has >50% positive coverage of PDT. All others are absolute NPC, Orange Man Bad 24/7/365.

Trump hasn’t really figured out how to use his bully pulpit at 100% effectiveness. Today he should have spoke about starting the process of reducing/eliminating future government shutdowns by putting all the penalties of a government shutdown on the member of Congress.

Calling for legislation that would force Congress to resolve any congressional impasse in a timely manner or the members of Congress will be the ones not being paid, not leaving DC, working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day until their political grandstanding is over.

I disagree.

What President Trump did today was not a mistake.

As I said in a few other threads today, this is a classic example of losing the battle in order to win the war.

This means the Dums can't stonewall the wall forever.

The ball is now in the Dums court to propose a compromise some time in the next 3 weeks which includes a reasonable amount of money to fund the wall.

Pukey Pelosi will have to go along with it in spite of the fact that she said the wall is immoral.

If the Dums don't propose a reasonable compromise within the next 3 weeks then it will be the Dums' fault if President Trump shuts the government down again or declares a national emergency.

This also allows President Trump to give his SOTU address in a few days which will be glorious to watch.

I'm still on the train.

Trump has zero governing experience. This is why he failed so spectacularly.

He literally took blame for a shut down on TV before it even happened.

His biggest mistake was not firing Comey on day one and not asking for border wall funds on day one. If he fired Comey immediately he wouldn’t have half the problems he does.

Trump was the guy going through a divorce, who took his kids hostage. Just can’t win that way. Hopefully, he has some wins down the road.

I love how every time anyone says anything critical of him the #1 go to defense is always Hillary this and Hillary that. You really can't say a single positive thing about the guy? I mean you'd be lying if you did but you should at least try.

really?

I am not looking to attack you, but it seems to me that he keeps promises at a higher clip than any other POTUS I have ever seen (either keep promises or tries to keep)

what promises has he broken in your mind?

asking to help me better understand people that think like you (people I think are critical for his re-election chances)
