Only-Trumpers do not care about that. That's not the attraction at all.

Here's the best way I can explain it. You know how there is a tendency for simple-minded people to over-identify with an actor or singer or other celebrity? To the point that they don't just really like the celebrity's work, they start to feel like they really understand the celebrity and the celebrity understands them? They start to think that if they actually knew the celebrity, he or she would like them? And in fact, they fantasize Walter Mitty-Style about somehow bumping into the celebrity and meeting them and becoming instant buddies (or depending upon the gender and orientation of the characters involved, lovers?)

That's how these people are about Donald Trump, I'm convinced.

It's in the way that they insist that "He's the only one who will fight for America," when nothing could be more obvious than that he's not interested in fighting for anything but himself and his own ego. Or, "He's learned his lesson; this time he really will drain the swamp," when that's a ridiculous fantasy in its own right. Or even argue that he's even interested in promoting conservative ideals when he's obviously the least conservative Republican POTUS in the last 60 years at the very least.

I think the Trumpanzees sit around and fantasize about being in some place—maybe the bathroom at a Trump rally, for instance—and the SS detail ushers Trump in for a quick piss before his speech, not realizing anyone else is in the can. They imagine themselves being questioned politely by the man while they both piss at the urinal and they say something that Trump finds fascinating and profound. He turns to one of the SS agents and says, "Get this man's contact information, I'll be needing his council soon!" He goes to give his speech, but a week later he calls the Trumpanzee on his way from New York to Georgia, traveling between the multiple states in which he has to defend himself in court, and they become lifelong friends and the Trumpanzee becomes one of Trump's most trusted advisors.

I'm not kidding. I really think that's what these people do. Though they would never admit it.

They actually think Trump understands them.

They think Trump knows what they are like and agrees with them.

They think Trump would like them if he knew them.
