But I will say Detroit has come a long way. It isn't near as bad as it was in the 90's, light years better than the 80's.
NOLA's trajectory is no where near as good.

Some areas of cities are starting the process of gentrification. Supposed to be a bad word I guess? To bring people with money back in the community to invest instead of a bunch of people mooching off the system.

Sure, we can cherry pick different areas of each state but Michigan is certainly one of the worst ran and most depressing states in the country.

Traveled to Detroit often. Can’t say I enjoyed flint or being detoured downtown from the airport. Auburn hills and Bloomfield are very nice areas. A number of great restaurants and a lot to do. Detroit and Michigan get a bad rap. City proper isn’t great but some very nice areas.

At the same time he's from Detroit and was a patrol officer in Detroit. He knew how to also help people that could be helped.
For those that didn't want or couldn't be helped he didn't bend much.

4D chess move. He's not going to win Detroit over, but the Michiganders outside the city who hate and despise that awful place might have liked the slight digs. It's like going to Memphis and calling it a shite hole. People in Collierville would love it.

Don't lump us in Western Michigan, Northern Michigan and the UP in with that dump on the east side.
