It’s because you don’t understand the nature of data collection and statistics. The lag between getting all the data compiled and getting it out at useful point in time is too great. They basically report what they have so it’s reasonably close to what it will be when all the data has been processed. You will always have to adjust what you previously reported. Having worked fairly closely with the BLS with three presidents I can tell you the data has always been very reliable. During the times of serious upheaval like hurricanes, recessions, and Covid the BLS did an amazing job reporting on a state and county level.

The problem is that they have been way off ever since this person was put in.
One month you may have overshot the estimates, the next maybe undershoot the estimates. But over the course of the year, it balances out.
Thats not what's been happening since 2022. It's been way off every month.
