As much as he’d possibly like to fancy himself as such, JBE is not Huey P Long.
I don’t believe Louisiana is one of the states where the Governor appoints someone to fill the vacancy till the next election. A special election is held.
And I could honestly see Jeff Landry throw his name into that fray, with possibly Mitch Landrieu, Karen Peterson (she’s full enough of herself to believe it would be worth her effort) and a few other Democrats.
Of course, I don’t believe any speculation that Cassidy will be appointed by the Biden Admin to fulfill such a vacancy of Fauci. That’s baloney.

I voted for Trump twice because I will not vote for a democrat. We need a leader to step up and organize a conservative win in 2022 and Trump's tactics are not helping at all.
I really do think if the republicans back up in 2022 Trump will be happy. He will go to social media and blame everybody but himself. He is so childish in his behavior.

I did vote for Cassidy and Kennedy but that is not why I am "mad".
I am mad because Trump is doing NOTHING to win in 2022. Continuing to fight with Cassidy doesn't help Kennedy for example.
You people do not seem to care. So long as no one criticizes Trump it doesn't matter to you if the democrats take the Senate in 2022.

People should be mad after voting for Cassidy. His campaign was based on supporting Trump, wins in a landslide, and then immediately did a complete about face. That’s straight up betrayal. Cassidy deserves every ounce of ire he receives from the right.
