We were at war and have been for a long time with the Islamic radicals. I think the US helped to broker the agreement along with other ME countries so it makes sense the US would be a signatory to the agreement.

He is not a party to the agreement. He is working to help bring all parties together because he has cred. He does not agree to any terms. That is up to Israel and Hamas.

The main difference this time is the Arab nations involvement. These leaders are all educated in the West and they are tired of the Islamist mentality. They all want to move forward and prosper. The Saudis have been an quiet ally to Israel for 3 decades now. They want to sign the Abraham Accords.
