Because they have a high propensity to commit violent crimes. Such a lazy gotcha.

Having the NG patrolling the FQ probably isn’t the best use of resources.

Was pretty nice after Katrina. Felt safe in a wasteland.

NOLA on pace to have its lowest murder rate in 50 years. I think currently the number is below 60. Violent crime as an overwhelming problem is way overblown.

Where is that dumb arse that posted about this yesterday, crying about Trump not looking at "red" states.

Typical TDS....can't let anything play out.

I think it would be smart to go after a city, albeit blue, in a red state so that media can stop saying he is only targeting democrat run states

Obviously, which is why the "those people" bit is in the halloween costume thing. Take a wild guess as to what that other guy means by 'thugs' lol

Right - it's another one of those 80/20 issues that is a "win-win". Plus it will actually help.

And if the blue cities in blue states want to get onboard, they can. Everyone will see that it is Trump - not "doing it" of course, but his leadership is making it happening. Not facilitating. Not assisting. Making it happen.

This is similar to, for example, living in your own clutter. You become blind to it. Or working in a foul-smelling workplace. You get nose blind to it.

Just take the "big crime" (homicide):

New Orleans and Memphis (blue cities in red states) - are in the Top 30 for the planet. That's unacceptable (or should be) in the United States.

Take the big 4 in the states - New Orleans, Memphis, Baltimore and Detroit - the murder rates for those cities are 6x to 11x the national rate. Just focusing on the most dangerous (defined by homicide rate) 10 cities in the U.S. would quickly make us one of the safest nations on the planet, despite our "hundreds of millions of guns". America isn't a violent, dangerous nation, but we have (mainly blue) cities with violent, dangerous populations.

It just is what it is.

Ehhhhh, it's a time honored tradition to paint New Orleans as a violent den of bloodthirsty savages. Statistically, Marksville is a lot more violent. If this were 30 years ago, I would say the detractors have an undebateable point.....but really over the last 15 years the murder # has been trending very much downward with a spike right after Covid.

Let him get MeeMaw to send the NG into the Birmingham Metro area... The only one that would bitch about it is Woodfin...

If they do, they need to bring prosecutors who will actually do their job not just turn them loose.

Is this because violence in general is down…

Or the fact that New Orleans has added substantially more Trauma Centers that are much more capable at keeping people alive that have been shot?

And that is the way. Go help the Red states clean up their blue shitholes. Let the masses see what can actually be done. Embarrass the frick out of the blue states and their cities.

Don't go where you are not wanted.

Also, I will say that the red governors need to do a better job cleaning up their shitholes. It should be slightly embarrassing that the Feds have to help you do your job.

I live in New Orleans.

In general, the crime is certainly down, fairly drastically from what it was after Covid.

But its certainly not a Utopia by any stretch.

I'm fine with a temporary NG presence
