Step 1: Close the border and fix immigration.
Step 2: Quit funding other countries' wars. All of them.
Step 3: Set a new budget based on a (sane) national flat tax or sales tax, ideally with a rate that automatically decreases every couple of years.
I dream.

He does not have a plan.
GHWBush had a plan ... "no new taxes." It enabled hostile factions to form a cohesive opposition making enactment virtually impossible. When they successfully undercut the GHWB plan, they molded it into a huge victory. In a scenario where Trump enters the WH with a detailed plan, the opposition will do the same.
To understand the extent of the derangement, a derangement backed and wholly supported by the PPP, look no further than reaction to RFK's concerns about food additives --- always a leftist position in the past.
Suddenly with RFK's Trump alliance, Time Magazine, a consistent screaming crisis source against processed foods over the years, ran a story titled "Dietitian is Speaking Up for ‘Ultra-Processed’ Foods."
It's what the left does. A plan is a target, regardless of merit.
Why provide the target?

Pander or b.s.? The American people deserve a President that understands the difference. I'm not sure either is aware that they are one in the same. Only difference is that since Trump is transactional and naturally reflexive he can say that everyone knows he was full of shite at the time. Whereas The Ugandan Mistress has no clue that what she says in b.s.

We pay sales tax.
Pay ad valorem tax.
Pay property tax.
Some pay state tax.
Some pay grocery tax.
Pay additional tax on vices.
Pay gas tax.
Pay estate taxes.
Pay hospitality taxes.
Pay user fee taxes.
Pay tax on everything.
No federal tax, I think we still have skin in the game. More damn skin than Buffalo Bill.

Consumption taxes would be one way. If Trump starts pushing a balanced budget amendment and Congressional term limits I will personally start the fund raising to get his likeness on Mount Rushmore displayed proudly along with the other OG presidents.

nd on another tangent, the IRS tax code is WAY too complicated.
In what way(s)? The Feds are never abolishing the income tax. Congress's primary social engineering tool is via the tax code.
Keeping coping tho.

f you have any more than a standard W-2 income, you're taking a decent sized gamble unless you hire a CPA.
Depends. If you are decently intelligent and organized and have a Schedule C business you can likely do it yourself.

The IRS makes you determine how much you owe them, send it to them, then they say whether that "sounds" right, and if not, you can be penalized and fined into oblivion.
This is only partially true. The Feds have a good idea of the income for W-2s Andys. However the IRS has no clue about donations, medical expenses, sIde income.
Additionally for corporations and partnerships the IRS has no idea was deductions you have or credit(s) you may qualify for.
Could the process be "simplified"? Sure. However people would start screaming and malding that the Feds "have too much info" and MuH pRiVaCy...

If there was a way to do it a replace with a federal tax on consumption, not only would it be more fair but it’d possibly overcome any shortfall.
Are you really sure this is what you want? How much have you thought about this?

Progressive corporate tax rate brackets based on gross revenue and number of employees. 5%, 10%, 15% in order to help small businesses
How do you define "small business"?
15% gross revenue tax? That's quite aggressive and will chase away capital....

quote:So yes, it would be AMAZING to reduce government back to that size, no president can do that without a LOT of help from Congress. The idea that Congress would come anywhere near shrinking the government by that amount is... silly. And ultimately, the american people would howl and scream bloody murder if you took that much away from them. They are fully hooked.
Now @realDonaldTrump is advocating eliminating the income tax completely and replacing it with tariffs, which was how the federal government was funded prior to 1913. In fact, the 16th Amendment was ratified precisely to replace tariffs on the middle class with income taxes on the rich. However, in 1913, the federal government spent less than 2% of GDP. Today it spends over 24% of GDP. It's impossible to fund the massive federal government we have now with the indirect tax system we had then. If Trump wants to return to the tax system we had prior to 1913, he would need to eliminate all the government programs enacted since then. That would really make America great again.

What do all the people who have posted on this board time and time again about how "everyone should pay at least some taxes so everyone has skin in the game" say about this? Should they not vote as has also been suggested?
