They will with a 50 year mortgage. It would take nearly 20 years to pay down the same amount of principle on a 50 year mortgage as it takes to reach the same amount on a 30 year mortgage.

I don't know why I'm trying to explain this to someone that thinks the fed controls mortgage interest rates and that California is a whisker away from turning red.

It’s going to raise the market artificially, prices will rise, property taxes and insurance go out and it equals a net zero change. Who comes up with these stupid fricking policies? Oh yeah, the banks

You know how I know I’m right? You offered no rebuttal and responded in name calling. Great argument. You argument is likely, the Trump administration came up with it so it’s a homerun.

Yes, without any real benefit to anyone except bankers and realtors (short-term, at least)

Yep. Increased demand leads to increase in supply. Every single time.

Now that would super inflate house prices. Maybe for 1st time home buyers.

I love Trump, but this just encourages people to never really own anything at all. You're basically renting at that point.

If you buy a house at 22, you might not own it till you're 72? Think of all the interest you'll pay. A 30 yr mortgage is bad enough.

But, I'm willing to hear the whole plan out, if it's 1% interest or less, with the option to refinance pretty much whenever.

The government should create conditions/environment to encourage home ownership in a much more reasonable fashion. Not saying to give people money. Just give incentive.

In Texas you can add $1,000 a month for Taxes / Insurance.

Mine is approaching $20k annually. The recently passed amendments will reduce that by about 10% on taxes but it's the insurance that's gone crazy
