Not really.
Not enough time, didn’t want to delay census per WSJ and Hill.
As I said in previous threads, for which I got hammered and called stupid, Roberts played this perfectly. He scuttled it without having to take a stand on it.
My thread explained all of this. Some didn’t want to face it, demanding that I CHANGE MY THREAD TITLE when I started a thread stating the question was out.
If you’ve studied Roberts and his career, studied his rulings, then you know his philosophy and that this is how he works.
His ultimate objective...above everything else, including protecting the Constitution...is the preservation of the Court and keeping it out of controversy and hot political topics. His loyalty is to the Court as an institution, not to the Constitution.

Trump knows when back down etc.. IMHO smart move kinda let the left win on this one.. But they still have the Border crap etc going thru courts that He is not backing down on.. Now all the people he had working on that case can focus on others..

Judge Roberts actually ruled the question was constitutional but he ruled with the majority to block the question on the census because he didn't like what he believed Wilbur Ross' motivation behind including the question on the census.

Extremely disappointing but with Roberts this is what you get. Public opinion shapes his own. Until he’s off the court you’ll just see small minor conservative wins and with big decisions he’ll side with the liberal wing.
