It's one of the most egregious things I've ever read about. Up and to include the school shooting down in Texas where the chief of police ordered his officers to set up a perimeter around the building and not enter while the gunman continued his rampage unimpeded for like an hour.

Everyone involved should fry.

No disagreement here. It's pretty awful.

You already can discharge student loans in bankruptcy. Brunner v. New York

So the options from the two parties are:

1. Seize wages from those who took out the loans to pay them.

Or

2. Seize wages from those who did not take out these loans (taxpayers) to pay them.

Yeah, I prefer option 1

Again, there is a third option that is in between 1 and 2.

Garnish the wages of people simply stealing from the government, no questions asked. Give people who are struggling to make ends meet the option of paying off their loans through volunteer work for the government. If they refuse, garnish their wages.

The government would end up making more money going the in between route.

False dichotomy, for our philosophy majors.

Look out, 1,000 borrowers, that probably don't even vote, are gonna swing the election!

Higher ed is the biggest indoctrination factory of Marxism while also the largest contributor to institutional debt slavism with its insane and crippling tuition costs and fees. So strange how universities don't seem to discuss this with their impressionable young students.

But muh post-capitalism.

Exactly. We are coming after their endowments.

It's insanity. It's like cutting an arm off of a student and then radicalizing the student to rage against two-armed people.

The students that are currently unemployed and are going to face repercussions should be guaranteed employment within the government.

I would think enough rational people see this as very reasonable. 5 million people freeloading and not being responsible. If this is the reason the Rs lose then this county is beyond repair anyway.

Didn't realize what they were getting into and did borrow enough that it was crippling. It's a failure by their parents.

So at what age are people mature enough to understand that loans need to be paid back?

Whatever it is, if not 18, should become the age to vote. If you're too stupid to understand a loan, you're too stupid to vote.

I also proposed giving poorer people the opportunity to pay down their debts in other ways such as volunteering time to DOGE.

Federal jobs and the military will pay off student debt. Do you live under a rock?

The handouts are going bye bye.

We do handouts all the time. People are only mad about certain handouts. We had better pay attention to young people. They feel that they are getting to the short end of many sticks. Kids on both sides of the political spectrum have similar views on financial/affordability issues. All they need is a politician smart enough to unify them and avoid social issues.
