Sounds like:
Charlie Kirk told Trump that MAGA is not buying the truth social posts and is not satisfied with the current status regarding Epstein investigation, etc.
Trump was tone deaf on the fallout at first, now he realizes that it wasn’t just going to go away by him saying forget about it.

The problem is the admin, including Trump and Kash directly, has come out with a stance on the Epstein stuff.
Reversing course makes them look dumb or incompetent, and trying to spin it into some 10D Othello amplifies the stupidity involved.

They could have already appointed a SC. Doing so now after all this embarrassment makes them look weak as frick.
You don't have Trump, Kash, Gaetz, etc. come out in support of Bondi and then publicly castrate her by making her appoint a SC. This not only contradicts her, but also Kash, Trump, etc.
